Evaluation of Thermal Comfort in a Lecture Room Heating with All-air Induction Radiant Air-conditioning System

We investigated psychological responses of students in a lecture room to examine whether indoor environment was kept well with all-air induction radiant air-conditioning system in winter. We carried out the questioner survey twice at the start and end of lecture to avoid disturbing the lecture. The results showed that the ratio of the comfortable side ("Neutral" - "very comfortable") was more than 80% at the end of lecture, although the room temperature at 600mm above the floor rose 2.0-3.4ºC in 90 minutes from the lecture start to end. Also, from the relationship between SET* and psychological responses (satisfied, appropriate and comfortable sensation), it was suggested that more than 70% of students felt the condition of lecture room appropriate as the learning environment, if the room temperature would be controlled as SET* targeted 25.2ºC and 26.8ºC at the start of 1st class and 3rd class, respectively.

By the cooling effect of trees in the park, the air temperature is usually to lower than that in built-up areas. The targeted campus has been planned to introduce cool breezes form an urban large-scale park as one of the energy-saving techniques. To evaluate the cooling effect, the measurements and CFD simulations were carried out. This paper, the cooling effect by the urban large-scale park was quantitatively discussed.

Meijo Koen Campus of Aich Gakuin University introduces various advanced technologies to offer comfortable learning field and achieve a low carbon campus. To realize this target, setting of appropriate target and condition at planning phase and optimal design considering sufficiently how to use the facilities and building thermal load are required. At the same time commissioning of performance is indispensable for the system to show an expected potential. Under above mentioned background, the energy consumption, performance of heat source system and secondary side system and the indoor/outdoor environment are analyzed in this study. In this paper, energy consumption and CO2 emission of whole campus and performance of central heat source system for one year after beginning of operation were presented.
