Local thermal sensation and comfort during bathing in the winter season were investigated. A framework for psychological evaluation during bathing was clarified; the problems with using the thermal sensation scale used for the evaluation of air-conditioning systems were pointed out. During half-body bathing when the upper body temperature was low, it was possible for the upper and lower body to sense their respective thermal environment; when the upper body temperature was neutral, however, the perception of upper body temperature and comfort was influenced by the temperature of the lower body. Moreover, because most of the body is exposed to hot water during whole-body bathing, the local thermal sensations become almost indistinguishable. Since the words used in the usual thermal sensation scale could not adequately express the sensations of the various immersed body parts, it was easier to express thermal sensation for the whole body than for various body parts. Also, the whole body thermal sensation appeared to be the sum of the upper and lower thermal sensations. Therefore, it is thought the local thermal sensation scale should be changed to accommodate immersed and non-immersed body parts for a more accurate psychological evaluation.

In this paper, we analyzed the children's play during recess in a elementary school, at especially courtyard on the examination from the one-year. The thermal environment of courtyard is different from the environment of playground by the materials of ground and the influence of sunlight reflected by the surrounding walls. And courtyard is the important place for outdoor playground taken place with school ground for lower classes' children. Moreover, we clarified courtyard is the really interesting playground in the point of interchanges between different age children and diversity of kind of play. Play at courtyard is related with air temperature, sunshine and wind velocity, especially wind over 2m/s disturbs play in all seasons. So we need to hold strong wind in planning for courtyard. And we found children select between shine or shadow at courtyard. So it's important to layout properly sun and shadow area at courtyard
