  5. 地域生態資源の動態評価に適用できる永久凍土分布図の作成

    本研究では以下3つの課題を設定している。これまでの研究実績の概要を記す。
    1.永久凍土地図化:今年度はこれまでにモンゴル各地で蓄積してきた観測データをベースに永久凍土の分布モデリングを実施した。具体的には、広域展開中の深層地温データ、ウランバートル近郊で2002年より継続している気象観測データ、モンゴル国家気象水文局が有する全国31測候所での観測値、リモートセンシングデータから得た地表面状態(ESACCI)、などを用いモデル駆動に必要な土壌パラメータ、モデルへの入力パラメーター(気温、積雪深)を決めた。モデリングはノルウェー・オスロ大学に研究代表者が長期滞在し、ここで開発が進められている非定常全球永久凍土マッピングモデル、CryoGrid_CCIによって実施した。全土を対象に過去40年程度の10m深までの地温、活動動厚などの変遷を1x1kmグリッドスケールで図化した。
    2.陸水動態解析:大学院生とともに昨年度に引き続き湧水地点の現況を現地で調べた。湧水ポイントの踏査に加え住民への聞き取り調査も実施した。これら現地での知見をもとに、リモートセンシングによってハンガイ山脈全域を網羅した湧水現況マップを作製した。さらに、枯れた湧水がどのような地理的条件下に多く見られるかを調べた。
    3.森林動態解析:LANDSATデータを時系列的に解析することにより森林劣化の変遷を復元すべく、データの取得や自動解析処理の方法を確立した。
    理由
    1.永久凍土地図化:いくつかの地点にてデータロガーやセンサーの不調があり、データ欠測が生じたが、これまでに蓄積したデータによって補完することによ り、永久凍土の様態・動態を示すパラメーターはほぼ算出することが出来た。観測的知見の論文公表それを基にしたモデリング作業を進めており、本サブテーマの進捗はおおむね順調である。
    2.陸水動態解析:1980年代発行の完成地図上に記載されている湧水ポイントを悉皆的に調査する有効な方法が確立した。本サブテーマはおおむね順調に進んでいる。
    3.森林動態解析:膨大なLANDSATデータを自動的に解析する手法を確立した。次の段階としてこの解析を対象地域全土に広げる。やや遅れ気味である。
    4.凍土地形変動解析:サーモカルスト地形と永久凍土動態の関連では特に進展がなかった。その一方でモンゴル西部のアルタイ山脈で岩石氷河が多く発達しており、それらが永久凍土の指標地形となりうることが見いだされた。1のテーマ(永久凍土分布の地図化)を待っている段階である。
    1.永久凍土地図化:観測データを基に、モンゴル全土を対象とした永久凍土分布図を完成する。
    2.陸水動態解析:GoogleEarthやArcGISのサービス画像といったリモートセンシングデータを活用し湧水の劣化傾向の全体像をとらえ、それと1の結果を比較検討する。
    3.森林動態解析班:LANDSAT解析を進め、森林劣化傾向を示す。これと1の永久凍土分布図を比較検討し、永久凍土劣化と森林劣化の対応を調べる。
    4.凍土地形変動班:岩石氷河分布図を作成する。これは永久凍土分布図の検証資料としても利用する。

    観測継続予定にあったプロットにおいては、プロトコルに則り観測が継続された。
    昨年度設定予定であったプロットに関しては、設定の最後の仕上げの段階が新型コロナウィルス感染拡大に見舞われ、宙に浮いた状態となってしまった。
    炭素循環研究でメタン動態は極めて重要な研究項目であり、当初本研究で予定していなかったメタン動態追跡を、昨年度は、開始する予定であった。設定に手間取ったが、昨年度末には設定完了間近であった。しかし、この件に関しても、最終段階において新型コロナウィルス感染拡大の影響で、完了することができなかった。
    DGVM関連研究に関しては、計算アルゴリズムの改良に著しい進展があり、今後の地球レベル計算に展望が開けた。
    全体的に進捗は遅れ気味であったが、年度末には多くの予定していた事項が完了できるはずであった。年度終了寸前に完了予定を置いた不備を認めながらも、昨年度末の新型コロナウィルス感染拡大による影響を避けることはできなかった。
    2020年5月30日現在の「新型コロナウィルスの世界的感染拡大」の状況を考えると、少なくとも今年度中期までの活動はあり得ないと考えるのが現実的であろう。よって、今年度中期までは、DGVMの適用・未来予測シミュレーションの実行など、理論的研究を重視する姿勢を取りたい。
    既存観測については、これまで通りのプロトコルに則り観測を続行する。設定予定であるが現在未完了のプロットが少なからず存在する。今年度が本科研計画の最終年度であることを鑑み、このまま設定をあきらめるか、現地関係者とのコンタクトを続け短くても観測を開始するかを早期に決定する。また、現実的な策として、本科研課題の1年延長を勘案すべきである。

    While land use changes from natural forests to oil palm plantations in tropical forest regions might deteriorate the local environments and biodiversity, there is a lack of qualitative researches on it. In this study, to clarify the effect of the expansion of oil palm plantations on the local environment in Borneo, we conducted observations of water and carbon cycling at individuals to plot scales mainly using eddy-covariance measurement system with a flux-tower. Furthermore, the comparison with water and carbon cycling data in a neighboring natural tropical rainforest allowed us to consider the effect of the land use changes.

    In the Lena river basin of eastern Siberia, the characteristics of forest evapotransriration and photosythesis are changed by forest environmants in waterlogging durings 2005-2008, and the influences of damages for waterlogging are studied in forest physiology (A), forest ecology (B), permafrostlogy (C), and river hydrology (D).
    The influences of the responses for the A, B, and C processes were appeared by the charactrestics of forests, and the evapotranspiration and photosynthesis are decreased by permafrost conditions in the waterlogging. The influences for the D response was not issued at all and was not changed by forest conditions in the waterlogging period. This phenomena is considered in the place of occurrence for the river discharge.
    The influences of the responses for the smaller or the bigger groupes are appeared by evapotranspiration, photosynthesis, and permafrost characteristics.

    This research project clarified spatial and temporal variations in degradation processes in permafrost region in eastern Eurasia, based on comprehensive analyses utilizing field work for vegetation-permafrost relationship, leveling on active layer and topographical change along permafrost degradation combining remote sensing technics, permafrost hydrological analyses and improved land-surface modeling. Notable results are summarized as follows. Spatial variation in active layer thickness was closely related with vegetation changes. Spatial structure of thermokarst development precisely mapped along with vegetation and active layer conditions. The permafrost degradation was also found in water-resource form geochemical composition in spring water. Based on these findings from field work, effect of snow depth, soil organic and moss layer in land surface model were sufficiently improved the performance to simulate permafrost temperature and active layer thickness in this region.
