    本研究では、動物園におけるゴリラと来園者、飼育員との相互作用に焦点を当て、科学、保全、一般の参加に向けた、ワンヘルスの視点に立った展示の推進を目指した。具体的には、以下の3つのポイントを取り上げた。1）ゴリラが来園者を彼らの社会的ネットワークに統合しているかどうか、2）来園者がゴリラの行動をどのように認識しているか、3）人の関与によるゴリラの潜在的ストレス。調査方法は、ゴリラの行動観察、来園者調査、糞便サンプルのホルモン濃度分析などである。今年度は、日本モンキーセンターに加え、東山動物園でも以下の調査を実施した。1）来園者と飼育員の影響に着目したゴリラの行動観察、2）来園者へのワンヘルスと野生動物保護に関する理解度調査、3）ストレスホルモン分析のための糞便サンプル採取。この飼育下での研究の基盤となる、観光客が野生のゴリラの行動に与える影響に関する先行研究の結果が、Journal of Primate Conservation誌に掲載された。これらの研究成果は、Gorilla Journal（英/独/仏語）、The AcademicとFaunalyticsの科学コミュニケーションプラットフォームにも掲載された。ポルトガル霊長類学の公開会議と京都大学霊長類学・ワイルドライフサイエンス・リーディング大学院シンポジウムでも、この研究の一部を発表し、さらに研究の詳細に関するワークショップを開催した。また、日本学術振興会のサイエンスダイアログの一環として、静岡県立袋井高校にて講演を行った。Takeshitaラボのチームと、ストレスホルモンの分析や新たなテナガザル動物福祉プロジェクトについて議論した。ルンド大学と協力し、霊長類をモデルに初期人類における火の使用の起源を探る共同研究や、ライプチヒ大学と協力し、ゴリラの行動研究の新しいツールであるGorillaFACsの共同開発を推進した。
