高度な情報化社会が実現される中、個人情報の管理場所や保存手法が複雑化し、また、情報を扱うハードウェアも多様化しつつあり、透明性のあるプライバシー対策が喫緊の課題である。そこで本研究では、高度情報化社会のプライバシーに焦点化し、以下の３つの視点から検討を行うことを目的とする。
社会心理学：一般ユーザ視点での、先進技術に対するプライバシーの心理学的理解
システム工学：リスクの階層概念に基づく情報処理システムの設計と評価
科学哲学：先進技術の利用で侵害され得る、プライバシーの概念分析
これらの３つを融合させることで、プライバシーに関する新たな学際的知見を解明することを目指す。
家庭内で人間のサポートを行うサービスロボットの場合、ユーザの視点で侵害されうるプライバシーとは何かを明らかにすることを目的に、調査を行った。GDPRや欧州の文化・司法が情報プライバシーを理解するために必要な基本的概念として、人間の尊厳がある。ロボットが侵害しうるプライバシーに関連する人間の尊厳の問題としては、従来、データ保護だけでなく、物理的安全や心理的安心の保護、自律性の低減や、人間関係の希薄化、欺瞞の問題など、多様な側面があることが理論的に指摘されてきた。そこで、本研究では、ロボットとの関連から、これらのプライバシーを人間の尊厳の視点に基づき定量的に評価する尺度を開発することを目的とした。
日本人3380名（平均年齢44.34, SD=16.83, 男性1528名、女性1852名）に対して、ロボットとのインタラクションにおいてどのようなプライバシー問題を懸念するのか調査をした。その結果、懸念されるプライバシーには大きく２つの因子があり、「ロボットを使うことで自分の家庭内での立場や役割が薄れてしまうかどうか」「ロボットを使うことで自分自身がロボット的にならないかどうか」「ロボットが自分の信念を変えたりしないかどうか」「ロボットを使うことが自分の孤独感に影響するかどうか」と言った人間の尊厳の根幹に関わる問題(α＝.94)、「事故の場合の責任の所在が明確になっているかどうか」「ロボットが物理的に安全かどうか」「メーカー側がデータ保護に可能な範囲の努力を行なっているかどうか」「ロボットがコントロール不能にならないかどうか」と言った、ロボットの技術・サービスの安全性に関わる問題(α＝.91)が存在することが明らかとなった。
これらのロボット利用時に関するプライバシーの問題について、次年度以降、実験的に検討を行う。
1年目は、プライバシーに関する心理学・哲学・工学での最新の知見をレビューし、それらの知見に基づく調査を実施することで、プライバシーに関する評価尺度を構築するとともに、次年度へ向けた基礎的な知見を得ることをも目的としていた。プライバシーに関しては人間の尊厳という概念が重要に関わってくることや、これに影響する技術的なデータ保護・ユーザ支援の運用内容について知見を整理するとともに、心理学的にユーザ視点でのプライバシー評価を行う尺度も作成することができた。したがって、今年度で実施する内容について計画通りに遂行できたため、概ね順調に進展していると言える。
1年目に得られたプライバシー調査の結果に基づき、2年目以降に具体的な実験をデザインし、実証的な検討を行う。哲学的な概念分析においては、プライバシーの構築要素は多岐にわたる一方で、ユーザ視点での評価においては、より抽象的なレベルでの評価がなされていることが明らかとなった。また、工学・情報技術は、それぞれのプライバシーの概念的な要素を個別に促進するとももに、最終的には、ユーザ視点での評価に影響すると考えられる。これらのメカニズムについて、次年度には、実機ロボットが家庭内でユーザを支援する状況を再現し、参加者とのインタラクション実験を行うことで、検討を行う。

The main results of this study can be classified into three categories. First, it provided a unified explanation of the various factors that have been regarded as defeaters for the epistemic rationality of belief: defeaters have the content that the subject does not possess knowledge. Second, it pointed out that the "higher-order evidence," which has been regarded as a candidate for defeater for the epistemic rationality of belief in the literature, does not defeat epistemic rationality but practical rationality in inquiry. Third, it analyzed the influence of the specific cultural background of Japan in particular and the characteristic features of the Japanese language on the defeat and denial of knowledge attributions. These results will be incorporated into a book that is currently being written and will also be submitted to journals.

大学の授業の評価課題として課されるレポート課題は、テストとは異なり学生の情報収集が前提となっている。そのため、レポートに書かれている内容を学生が理解しているかどうかを評価することは困難である。そこで、適切に評価をするためには問い方を工夫する必要がある。というのも、Xについての理解を問うためにダイレクトに「Xについて説明せよ」と問うても、インターネットからコピペした場合は、学生がXを理解できているかどうかを評価できないからである。そこで本研究では、レポート論題ごとにどのような理解や能力を評価できるのかについて実証的に明らかにする。
令和4年度は、追加調査を実施し、最終的に150名からの回答を得られた。
その回答を分析したところ、教員のレポート観（なぜレポート課題を出すのかや、どのような論題をどのように出題しているかや、どのような点を重視して評価しているかなど）が多様であることが分かった。その中でも特に特に評価の仕方（何を重視して評価をするか）に着目をして分析した。調査で、αさんとβさんという二人の学生を設定し、両者から相反する特徴をもったレポートが提出された場合どちらを高く評価するかを質問し、「αさんに高い点数をつける／αさんに少しだけ高い点数をつける／βさんに少しだけ高い点数をつける／βさんに高い点数をつける」の中から選択してもらった。具体的には①独自性orエビデンス、②引用or内容の面白さ、③専門用語の理解or講義より進んだ内容、④様々な考察or明確な主張、の4項目である。分析すると、④で回答に偏りが見られたものの、ほとんどの項目で回答結果はばらついた。
そのばらつきの要因について、教員の専門分野の違いに起因するのではないか、という仮説を立てて分析をしたが、そうではないことがわかった。そこで、どのような評価をしているかということが、回答者のどのような属性に起因しているかを様々な観点から分析したが、ほとんどの項目で統計的な有意差は見られなかった。
こうしたことから、少なくともレポートの評価に関しては、教員がそれぞれ独自の基準で評価しているのではないかと考察できる。レポート課題の評価に関しては、分野ごとに明確な基準が設定されているわけではなく、各教員が手探りで試行錯誤しながら評価基準を模索しているのではないかということが分かった。
追加調査を実施することにしたことから、最終的な成果報告をとりまとめるにあたって、申請時の計画より時間を要することとなったが、追加調査も終了し、分析も順調に進んでいる。
令和5年度は、web調査の結果を分析し、その分析を補完する形でインタビュー調査の分析を行なう。また、これまでの研究成果を論文にまとめて発表する。

In analytic philosophy it has been thought that the central task of philosophy is conceptual analysis and the basis of conceptual analysis is intuition on individual cases. In this research project, we found that there are theoretical criticism on this standard view of philosophy, as well as empirical criticism from experimental philosophers and that there are some promising alternative views of philosophy; philosophy as an empirical inquiry based on naturalized epistemology, philosophy as experimental study adopting empirical methods such as questionnaire survey, and philosophy as conceptual engineering.
The international examination of the idea of "Trust" : an applied philosophical approach

This research project examined the role of'Trust'in our present society in philosophical, ethical and phycological point of view. It also indicated that the profound understanding of trust would encourage people living in this society to have a better life. In particular, this project made a) a normative investigation about trust based on philosophical and ethical theory as well as social scientific studies b) a descriptive investigation of it comparing the Japanese idea of trust with that of other Asiatic countries c) an experimental philosophical review considering these two investigations. We released publicly the results from this project through publishing research papers, holding symposium and giving several conference presentations.

By using an advanced driving support system, there is a possibility that a phenomenon called mind wandering (MW), in which awareness is not related to driving behavior, may occur. It has been found that MW occurs unconsciously and is associated with subjective comfort. Therefore, we aimed to clarify how much MW occurs in the case of the driving support system and how it affects the enjoyment of the driving in comparison with normal manual driving. In this study, we identified elements of driving pleasure. Then we found that driving enjoyment was significantly higher when using a driving support system than with manual operation, and that MW was more likely to occur with manual operation.

Even though the percentage has increased in recent years, women still comprise only about ten percent of the over 1400 members of the Philosophical Association of Japan;this demonstrates that certain factors obstruct women's participation in philosophy as an academic discipline. We have been actively tackling various issues related to both gender-equality promotion and support for early career researchers. We administered questionnaire on these issues. Based on the new survey's results, we held discussions from a variety of perspectives to share "facts". We invited Dr. Joe Morrison, the director of British Philosophical Association, and learnt the“Good Practice Scheme”which has a considerable equality-related intellectual background in UK. We organised a number of workshops with British Philosophical Association, Tohoku Philosophical Association, Nishinihon Philosophical Association, Science Philosophy Association, Hokkaido Philosophical Association and Hiroshima University etc.

Essay questions are rarely studied in writing education. Our study has focused on the importance of essay questions for preventing internet plagiarism and promoting thinking on the students' side. Firstly, we analyzed the types of essay questions that can be used to prevent plagiarism and provided concrete examples of plagiarism-preventing essay questions. Secondly, we developed an "essay question taxonomy" corresponding to the revised taxonomy (taxonomy of educational goals) offered by Anderson et al. and then presented a framework for using essay questions to design a course.
