    本研究はMEMS技術を活用したストレッチャブル熱輸送デバイスを世界で初めて実現し,ウェアラブル電子機器の高密度化,高出力化にブレイクスルーをもたらすことを最終目的とする.具体的には,まずソフトマター上のナノ・マイクロスケール狭隘空間に創成した階層マイクロピラー,およびナノブレード界面での気液相変化素過程を独自の可視計測手法により観察し,伸縮による空間変形や振動に伴う二相流動特性の変化を系統的に明らかにする.次に,階層マイクロピラーで発現する毛細管力と,ナノブレード界面で生じる滴状凝縮を活用したストレッチャブルな熱輸送デバイスの実現性を検証する.
    本研究では,階層マイクロピラーを用いた蒸発現象およびナノブレードによる滴状凝縮現象を融合した次世代ストレッチャブル熱デバイスを創出するとともに,伸縮・振動下における各相変化の物理現象を解明することで,デバイスシステム全体を最適化し,実社会に適用可能なデバイスを提案することを最終目的とする.2022年度の主な研究実績としては,下記の2点を実施した.
    1.高ガスバリア性をもつフレキシブル2相流熱輸送デバイスの創出
    本研究で提案するデバイスはフレキシブル性を有する材料(多孔体)をMEMS技術により作製しており,デバイスで最も高圧となる蒸発部での作動流体の飽和蒸気圧に耐えうる気密性が要求される.通常のマイクロ流路を用いたデバイスでは,単相流がほとんどであり,本研究のように2相流を用いるデバイスは稀であり,フレキシブル性と気密性の相反する要求を同時に満たす必要がある.そこで,本研究ではパリレン樹脂などを用いて従来のデバイスよりもガスおよび液透過性の高いデバイスプロセスの確立と熱的評価を実施した.さらに本成果での学会発表も実施している.

    2.マイクロポンプのモデル構築と滴状凝縮のデバイス実装
    2022年度は主に上記の1.に時間を要したが,並行して当初の研究計画の通りに,精度よく3次元造形が可能な3Dプリンティング技術であるナノスクライブによりマイクロポンプの設計,試作を行った.現在は,階層マイクロピラーを用いた蒸発器としての設計要求の洗い出しやモデルの構築を進めている.
    本研究の最終目標として,実際に社会実装可能なデバイス創出まで視野に入れており,2022年度はその際に必要不可欠な要素である高液・ガスバリア性能の改良を中心的に実施し,従来のフレキシブル熱輸送デバイスよりも高気密なデバイス作製プロセスの確立に成功した.さらに,本研究計画通りに,マイクロポンプのモデル構築と滴状凝縮のデバイス実装の項目についても着手している.また共同研究者とも定期的にミーティングを実施し,効率的に研究を進めている.
    2023年度も引き続き,下記の研究計画を遂行していく予定である.
    1.マイクロポンプの提案およびモデル構築と滴状凝縮のデバイス実装
    2022年度は主に蒸発部においてマイクロポンプのモデル構築のため,試作等を実施していたが,2023年度はさらに凝縮部においてはナノブレードをドライエッチングで樹脂上に作製し,凝縮性能に優れた相界面をもつプロトタイプデバイスを試作し,材料依存性や伸縮・振動下の評価を行い,デバイス実装に必要な条件を明らかにする.
    2. 熱デバイスの最適化と伸縮・振動下における相界面の学理構築
    2-i) 熱デバイスシステムの最適化を目的に,これまで申請者が構築した一次元熱流体モデルを応用し,マイクロポンプの理論モデルおよび凝縮部の物理モデルを新たに組み込む.さらに従来の熱解析モデルは巨視的な視点に立脚しているため,マイクロ流体の特性も考慮したモデルへ展開させる.2-ii) 1.のデバイス蒸発/凝縮の物理現象の理解と2-i)での三次元熱解析モデルに基づき,デバイスの設計・作製を行う.

    A novel thermal control device focused on metal-insulator phase transition materials (LSMO, LPMO, VO2, VWO2) for space applications was proposed. The proposed device has three functions: variable emissivity, variable thermal conductivity, and thermal storage as a multifunctional thermal control device. The methods for fabricating bulk materials were established and various thermophysical properties of prepared samples were clarified by using our original thermophysical property measurement system. In order to improve the performance of the thermal switch, we are also considering the introduction of the near field effect, although it is necessary to consider the fabrication process of thin film of VWO2 for the device application.

  3. Study on Near-field Thermal Radiation in Submicron Range and Application of Active radiation device

    Radiation control is crucial to maintain the operation temperature of satellites under varying irradiation of sunlight. Previously, bulky heat exchangers with heat pipe or thermal louvers/shutters with a low fill factor are proposed for the task, although they are not suitable for next-generation small satellites. In the present study, we propose an array of electrostatically-driven MEMS(Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) diaphragms for active control of thermal radiation using the near-field effect. We have successfully fabricated a prototype with parylene shared springs and achieved a fill factor of as high as 89 %. It is found that at the ON state, the diaphragm temperature is increased from 58.0 ℃ to 106.4 ℃, showing 144 % enhancement in the radiation heat flux.
