    新学術領域研究「ハイエントロピー合金:元素の多様性と不均一性に基づく新しい材料の学理」を構成する多様な研究者が行う研究を相互に有機的に関連付けて、多様な観点から共同研究を企画・管理することにより、各研究者の研究にさらなる進展とブレークスルーをもたらすとともに、これらの研究成果がハイエントロピー効果という新規な概念のもと、最先端のナノ解析実験研究、最先端計算科学、最先端材料創製研究を融合させて、「未開の多成分系状態図の中央近傍の組成を持つハイエントロピー合金が示す新規で特異な材料物性をハイエントロピー効果と言う新規な概念からその本質を明らかにし、多様な構成元素間の非線形相互作用(カクテル効果)に潜む新たな材料科学の学術領域を打ち立てる」という領域全体の目標に対して最大限の寄与が出来るよう各個別研究および共同研究の方向付けを行っている。具体的には、領域全体の管理運営を行う事務局体制を整備し、領域内の各グループで実施されている研究内容を把握し、異なる背景の研究者間の研究言語を咀嚼、翻訳、統一し、「何が明らかになったのか」また「何を明らかにすべきか」を明確にした上で、総括班会議、領域全体研究会、各研究項目内連携会議、各計画研究班内会議などを企画・組織を通して、構成メンバー全員の共通認識となるようその周知に努める。また、大型共通設備(SPring-8、J-PARC、金研スーパーコンピューターなど)について利用のための講習会を開催しその利用を支援し、国際活動支援班を設けることにより、国内だけでなく国際的にも各研究グループ間の人材交流についての調整・交渉の窓口を行っている。また、ホームページやシンポジウム、若手の研究会,さらには関連各学会での講演会を企画・運営し、領域の最新研究動向や成果を学界をはじめ広く社会に発信している。
    総括班代表のもとに開設した総括班事務局を中心に総括班事務運営を行っている。総括班事務局では、専属の事務補佐員1名を雇用し、領域全体会議の開催の準備、若手研究会の企画と予定の確定、具体的な共同研究を早急に立ち上げるための各研究項目内での連絡会議、および各計画班内での研究会議の具体的な予定、領域内外の共有設備の使用規程などの決定・更新を行った。学会連携部門を中心に、各学会で強さと変形に関する研究企画を立ち上げ、研究成果の学界への発信を行うための計画案の策定も行った。また、領域のホームページ(日英2ヶ国語)を活用し、海外研究機関との連携も図った。
    平成31年度の領域全体国内研究会として、平成31年5月にスタートアップ会議を開催し、新たに加わった公募班研究者も含め、今年度の各研究班の研究目的、内容、および研究班間の共同研究の項目及びその進め方について議論を行った。さらに、平成31年9月に日本金属学会秋期講演大会で公募シンポジウム「ハイエントロピー合金の材料科学」を開催し、領域内外の研究者との活発な討論から、強さと変形に関する研究成果の学界への発信を行った。本年度の領域全体国際会議として、米国シアトル市で令和1年11月にTMS国際会議High-Entropy Alloysを、令和1年12月に横浜市でMRM2020国際会議の中で本領域主催のシンポジウムを開催した。また、平成31年度の領域全体国内研究会として、令和2年3月に成果報告会を京都で開催予定し、各計画研究班の研究成果および計画研究班間の共同研究の成果について議論を行い,今後の研究推進方針の確認を行う予定であったが、新型コロナ禍のためやむを得ず中止とした。研究計画書、研究成果報告書、ニュースレターを各1部刊行し、領域に参画する研究者間の研究計画と目的、方針の共有化を行った。
    領域に参画する研究者間の研究目的・計画、方針の共有化を更に確立し、共同研究を促進するための領域全体の国内及び国際会議だけでなく、計画研究班および公募研究班の間の交流を促進するための班内, 班間研究会を積極的に企画する。これを容易に可能とさせるため、ホームページの充実、研究計画書、研究成果報告書、ニュースレターの発刊を行う。具体的には、領域全体国内研究会として、スタートアップ会議(5月)および成果報告会(3月)を開催するとともに、強さと変形に関する研究成果の学界への発信を行う目的で、日本金属学会講演大会で公募シンポジウム「ハイエントロピー合金の材料科学」を秋期大会、春期大会の年2回開催する。他分野研究者への本研究領域の研究成果の発信の一環として、9月にはセラミックス協会の年会でシンポジウム「ハイエントロピー合金の材料科学」を開催する。また、領域全体国際研究会として、11月に米国ボストン市でMRM 2020Fall Meetingで第2回シンポジウムを、また、12月に横浜市で開催されるMRM 2020国際会議で第2回シンポジウムを開催し,本新学術領域を国際的にアピールし,人材交流を促進させる。3月には京都市で国際的に著名な研究者を集めてハイエントロピー合金に関する国際ワークショップを主催する計画である。また、国際交流、人材育成活動を更に充実させる目的で昨年設立した若手研究会、国際コンソーシアムを利用して、共同研究の推進、研究成果情報共有の推進、人材育成・交流の共同促進に努める。また,領域に参加する研究者を中心に学術書籍「ハイエントロピー合金」の刊行(令和2年4月)を予定しており、一般社会への研究成果の周知を行う予定である。
