    In this study, to improve fire resistant performance of steel building structures at fire and promote reuse and rapid recovery of them after fire, the behavior of redundancy for an overall steel frame at fire was clarified by fire resistant experiments using steel frame specimens. Furthermore, both fire and post-fire resistance experiments of steel members were conducted, to evaluate those load-bearing performance which is required for the fire damage diagnostics to improve the resilience at post-fire. The resilience-evaluation model of steel frames after the fire was proposed, and the resilience performance was quantified by the parametric calculations. Furthermore, the redundant building at post fire was proposed by those calculation results.

    The bending strength, flexural buckling strength, and collapse temperature of steel members were examined by steady and transient state tests with various heating and deformation rates to clarify relationships between those fire resistance and steel strain rate. The stress-strain relationships for mild steels at elevated temperatures were obtained by coupon tests under three strain rates. A bending test using a beam specimen was conducted to examine the effects of the deformation rates under steady-state conditions and the heating rates under transient state conditions. Flexural buckling tests were conducted under steady-state and transient-state conditions. It was clarified that the bending strength and collapse temperature are evaluated by the full plastic moment using the effective strength under fast strain rates. The flexural buckling strength and collapse temperature are approximately evaluated by the buckling strength using 0.002-offset yield strength under a slow strain rate.

    The main purpose of this research is to clarify fire resistance performance on welded connections of steel building structures. High temperature tensile experiments for steel plates with the welded connections, high temperature bending shear experiments for column to beam welded connections, high temperature Charpy impact tests for the welded connection were conducted, respectively. Furthermore, verification methods on the brittle fractures of the welded connection in the steel structure subjected to fire was proposed. From the experimental results, it was confirmed that the welded connection at the high temperature possesses the same or larger strength and deformation capacity than the base steel member. The verification method on a ductile crack in the welded connection, which can be used at the fire resistance design in practice, was constructed.
