低速自動運転車両等を用いた新たなモビリティサービスによる公共交通網再編の試みが各地で進められている．低速自動運転車両のようにラストマイルを担うモビリティサービスの設計には，数百m単位の精度で需要を把握する必要がある．本研究では，高蔵寺ニュータウンを対象とし，PT調査データと携帯電話から得られた位置情報データを組合せ，250mメッシュ単位の交通手段別OD表を作成した．さらに，選好意識調査データと組合せて新たなモビリティの需要予測モデルを構築し，250mの解像度で低速自動運転車両の需要推計に適用した．携帯電話の位置情報活用により，PT調査等数kmゾーン単位の既存データのみでは困難であった詳細解像度での需要推計手法を構築し，新たなモビリティの導入検討や本格運用に向けたシステム設計への活用を可能とした．

To support car use reduction in Japan, this study investigates the possible relationships between environmental concerns and car use. Covariations, unidirectional effects, and reciprocal effects were examined using structural equation models with the data from 900 respondents collected in Nagoya, Japan through a web-based survey. A significant negative correlation between environmental concerns and car use was found, whereas a causal effect of environmental concerns on car use was not verified. In addition, socio-demographic variables could explain less than 15% of the variances of environmental concerns and car use. Hence, reducing car use by promotion campaigns aimed at raising awareness of ecological problems is not suggested. Instead, factors other than environmental concerns and common socio-demographic characteristics may have better explanatory potential for car use. From a model specification perspective, we suggest future studies in this domain to explicitly consider the reciprocal relationships between hypothesized factors.

本研究は、2006年から2015年の間に名古屋市中心市街地で発生した自転車事故データを用いて、交差点構造及び自転車道路が自転車事故に与える影響を分析した。自転車の保有率が増加する中、自転車事故が全交通事故件数に占める割合は対象期間中毎年25%を上回っている。自転車事故の多くは交通量の交差が多い交差点で起きているため、本研究では交差点での事故を対象とし、交差点構造データ及び自転車道路データを収集し、これらの要素が自転車事故発生に及ぼす影響を負の二項分布モデルを用いて分析した。モデルの推定結果により、大きい交差点ほど自転車事故リスクが高いことと、小さくてもストップサインのみの交差点は自転車事故リスクが高いことがわかった。更に、単路から交差点横断部分まで明確に標示されている自転車道路による周辺交差点の自転車事故減少効果が有意であることが示された。

The aim of the present study was to investigate the basic cross-cultural differences in the aberrant driving behaviors of Japanese, Chinese, and Vietnamese drivers. Overall, the Vietnamese drivers reported more instances of all four types of aberrant behaviors on the road as compared to the drivers from the other two countries. On the contrary, the fewest aggressive violations were reported by the Japanese drivers. An analysis of variance was also performed; the results indicated significant differences in the aberrant driving behaviors of drivers from the three countries. The test statistics indicated there are significant differences between the drivers from the three countries in terms of the Driver Behavior Questionnaire (DBQ) items. Finally, the results of a confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the four-factor model structure of the shorter version of the DBQ used in this study was valid for Chinese drivers but only partially valid for Vietnamese and Japanese drivers.

This paper investigates attitude of respondents towards a new transportation alternative namely cooperative ride system (CRS) for elderly people using 1052 samples collected in Asuke, Japan. A multinomial logit (MNL), nested logit (NL) and NL with consideration of covariance heterogeneity (COVNL) across decision makers were estimated. Additionally, three COVNL models with different transformation functions (probit, logit and C log-log) were tested for comparison. The results indicate that by incorporating the covariance heterogeneity, the COVNL model results in dramatic improvements in terms of better fitting to the data and behaviorally representing the choices of decision makers. Moreover, among three transformation functions, the C log-log function is the best while the probit function is the worst ones for data fitting. Evidence from model estimation results shows that the potential volunteer drivers for the CRS are the people living in a single household, currently using cars and having more frequencies of driving and traveling. Most importantly, the elderly people, whom the CRS is proposing for, are found to significantly participate as the riders. Furthermore, females, students and the people earning low annual income possibly join as the riders. Interestingly, the people who gained experiences of being the volunteer drivers or riders have higher willingness to take part in the CRS.

A large body of evidence supports that driving stress both directly and indirectly leads to traffic accidents. Therefore, driving stress is an important issue to reduce traffic accidents. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of roadway conditions and land-use on driving stress among professional drivers and to give some suggestions to reduce the driving stress. Multiple indicators multiple causes (MIMIC) model was used to empirically investigate which variables of the roadway condition and land-use affected the driving stress among drivers in Yangon, Myanmar. Standard deviation of normal to normal RR intervals (SDNN), Square root of the mean squared differences between successive RR intervals (RMSSD), Percentage value of consecutive RR intervals that differ more than 50 ms (pNN50), Baseline width of the RR interval histogram (TINN), Balance between the sympathetic nervous system activity and the parasympathetic nervous system activity (fast Fourier transform) (LF/HF (FFT)) and Balance between the sympathetic nervous system activity and the parasympathetic nervous system activity (Autoregressive) (LF/HF (AR)) are used as driving stress indicator. The results suggest that certain roadway conditions reduce driving stress. Specifically, using roundabouts and traffic lights at intersections to control traffic and increasing the number of lanes are the effective ways to reduce driving stress. However, roundabouts rather than traffic lights are more efficient. Conversely, industrial zones are associated with an increase in driving stress.

Traffic accidents result in more than 1.2 million deaths worldwide per year, especially in developing countries. Therefore, road safety is a major issue in these countries. Many researchers found that traffic accidents occur mainly because of driving stress and driving behavior. There are few studies on driving stress in developing countries, particularly in Myanmar. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of roadway conditions on driving stress in Myanmar by using heart rate variability (HRV). The study used two polar watches V800, a heart rate sensor H7, and a video camera to collect data and carried out time-domain and frequency-domain analysis of HRV by using the Kubios HRV analysis software. The results showed that drivers experience different driving stresses depending on roadway conditions. In particular, highly crowded places and those requiring attention such as mixed roads, lane-changing points, jaywalking places, rough and bad pavements, traffic congestion areas, and flyover are the most stressful segments along the roadway for drivers.

We analyzed the impact of demographic variables, driving stresses in the real world, driving behaviors related to stress, and unsafe driving behaviors on accident involvement among professional drivers in Myanmar. The aim of the study is to investigate whether driving stress as well as demographic variables can be linked with driving behaviors and lead to traffic accidents. Structural equation modeling (SEM) is developed to represent the relationship, and Yuan-Bentler residual-based test statistics are used to validate the model structure, as the sample size is small. The results confirmed that driving stress as well as demographic variables affect driving behaviors and lead to traffic accidents.

This paper examines the influences of environmental consciousness and attitudes to transportation on electric vehicle purchase intentions. A multiple-indicators?multiple-causes model and a latent-class nested logit model with two segments were estimated using data obtained through a web-based questionnaire survey in the Chukyo Area of Japan. Results reveal that both environmental consciousness and attitudes to transportation significantly affect an individual's EV buying intentions. Specifically, for the segment of mostly auto-dependent householders, environmental consciousness has strong negative relationships with intention to buy an EV as a replacement. The results provide insight for the design of policies aiming at promoting the adoption of EVs.
