    我々は Maxima とマッシュアップ技術による Web コンテンツ中での数式処理と可視化について研究を行ってきた.JSONP によりクロスドメインでどこからでもアクセスできる Web API を通して,Maxima による数式処理と MathML への変換サービスを提供し,クライアント上の JavaScript で HTML5 を利用して実装されたプロットライブラリ Flot によるグラフの可視化等を実現してきた.今回,Web API を RPC からより汎用的な REST へ変更し,MathDox を用いた GUI による数式入力や MathJax による数式表示に関する検討を行い,数式入力の可視性が高め入力を容易にし,Web ブラウザ異存を低減したので報告する.

    We have developed a new type of e-textbook that connects with a Learning Management System (LMS) by utilizing iBook and Moodle. The integration is achieved with an HTML widget, and enables customization of Moodle and access to Moodle content directly from the iBook. This facilitates a possible learning method where students can study with the e-textbook, and subsequently create exercises by taking a Moodle quiz from the e- textbook. Because user authentication is required, students' learning times and quiz scores are recorded, and the instructor can survey learning activities for each student prior to the class. This type of learning analysis might prove beneficial for a flipped classroom.

    In online tests, attention has been paid to systems that enter mathematical expressions as answers, and automatic mathematical expression scoring has become possible. However, the automatic scoring is only for the answer as a result of the student's thinking, and when the answer is an incorrect answer, it is difficult to fully grasp where he/she stumbles. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to construct a mechanism for submitting handwritten notes describing not only the answer but also the thinking process leading to the answer, such as the calculation process. Finally, we developed a mechanism for submitting a photographed handwritten note or a handwritten note on a tablet. Furthermore, we have constructed a mechanism that can store the writing log of handwritten notes on a tablet.

    We conducted research on e-learning online testing for the further spread of mathematical formula automatic assessment system which has been increasingly used in recent years and the modeling of knowledge acquisition by students based on data accumulated in the system . First of all, in order to further spread the mathematical formula automatic assessment system, we improved the mathematical expression input which has been conventionally pointed out. Specifically, we have developed a mathematical expression input interface applying a flick input method that can easily input mathematical formulas in devices such as smartphones. In addition, as a model construction of knowledge acquisition, based on the answer data obtained in the online test, we proposed a mechanism for inferring students' understanding level by using Bayesian network.

    System for Teaching and Assessment using a Computer Algebra Kernel (STACK) is a computer-aided assessment system for mathematics, which functions as a plug-in for the learning management system Moodle. Using STACK, Moodle can provide questions for online mathematics tests. However, the questions must be designed carefully to take full advantage of STACK's rich functionality. Well-designed questions can be valuable educational resources, especially in an e-learning environment. Thus, to promote the sharing of high-quality questions for use in online tests, we developed an Item Bank System for the mathematics e-learning system STACK. Using our system, users can submit authored questions in XML format to STACK along with additional metadata, including the subject, difficulty level, targeted grade and publicity level. After they have been uploaded and stored in the system, all users can utilize any of the questions that are open to the public.

    自然科学教育において実験を行うことは、自然現象を具体的に色々な側面から認識することができ、その理解をたすける。ところが、特に一般教養としての自然科学に関する講義では、実験は行われないか教官の演示実験にとどまり、受講者自身が実験室で実験を行う機会はほとんどない。インターネットを利用して実験やシミュレーション実験を行うことのできる遠隔教育システムを提供することでこの点を補うことができ、さらに、放射線等の取扱に注意を要する実験も容易に扱え、いつでも、世界中のどこからでも実験が行える。またシミュレーション実験では、例えば、摩擦を無くすことで理想に近い実験条件を実現したり、実時間では速すぎたり遅すぎたりするものや、原子から宇宙までスケールの大小にかかわらず仮想実験を行うことができる。
    我々は、遠隔実験およびシミュレーション実験をWWWブラウザ上で行えるシステムをJavaを用いて開発してきた。遠隔実験、シミュレーション実験のいずれの場合も、いかに現実に近い感覚で実験を行えるかが重要である。そこで、我々はJava3D APIを利用したリアルな3次元表示を実現し、実験装置や力学系シミュレーションの進行を視点を変えて見ることができるようなJavaプログラムを開発した。また、Swing APIのJnternalFrameを利用することで、Look and Feelを含めてOS等の環境に依存しないユーザインターフェイスを実現した。遠隔実験サーバにおいてはGPIBで接続された測定機器、ステッピングモータの制御やライブカメラをJNIを利用したJavaによるサーバプログラムをLinux上で提供している。また、インターネットを通してこれらのサービスを提供するにあたり国際化も重要であり、Javaのlocale機能を利用してクライアントの使用言語にメニュー等を自動対応させた。

    The researchers proposed the use of bottom-up oriented digital textbooks, followed by experiments at several universities. The target academic subjects of the experiments varied from information, and language, to areas of physics. Teaching styles observed included lectures, seminars, and flipped classrooms. Additionally, in some classes digital tablets were given to each student. In other classes, students brought their own devices to deal with the digital textbooks. Data showed the importance of interactive factors such as images, sound, and videos in the digital textbooks. Through the experiments, LMS-linked study with digital textbooks proved useful and effective. Those involved evaluated these digital-textbooks as an effective way to help students learn.

    In this research, we proposed the brand-new Learning Analytics approaches, which are very different from traditional ones in the areas of Learning Sciences and/or Educational Engineering. What is important and new methodologically is that our research is mathematical and computational one. Our achievements are as follows; (1) We planed and managed a lot of research seminars, forums, discussion sessions in conferences in terms of Learning Analytics (FIT2013, JSET2013, JSiSE2014, JSiSE2014, and so on).     We have been developing interactive lecture demonstrations that help students grasp the concept of physics. Our observations show that students think actively and can logically explain an underlying physical law when visual demonstrations are introduced in sequence. For that purpose, it is necessary to arrange a series of experiments intentionally so that proper information may be given to students in each stage.
    For example, our developed demonstrations successfully visualize the difference between mass and weight. We show clearly that logical relation between the period of a pendulum and a moment of inertia, by comparing a simple pendulum with a rigid body pendulum.

    The purpose of this research is to develop simulation tools by integrating Java and symbolic computation software and open them to the public on the e-Learning system. The plan is as follows ;
    1. Development simulation tools using symbolic computation software that can be carried out on the web.
    2. Development simulation tools by integrating symbolic computation software and Java language.
    3. Development e-Learning system with simulation tools for a personal digital assistant (PDA).
    We describe in a bit more detail in the following.
    As an example of simulation tools 1, We developed Maplet applications with graphical user interface (GUI). Maplet is one of the packages of symbolic computation sofutware Maple. Those applications are opened to the public on the web site. http://thomas.phys.cs.is.nagoya-u.ac.jp/Maple/App/
    As an example of simulation tools 2, we integrated Java language and Maple. We developed client software with GUI by Java and the software carried out some calculations communicating with MapleNet server. Numerical computation, symbolic computation and MathML output are possible. We made students develop some simple simulation tools like those applications as an assignment. Some students got an interest in developing those applications. Some guide used in the class is opened to the public. http://thomas.phys.cs.is.nagoya-u.ac.jp/~nakamura/NetCom/?%BD%E0%C8%F7. We also suggested an alternative way to integrate Java and Maple for developing simulation tools. OpenMaple is used in Java program.
    As for 3, in order for a PDA be a client of e-Learning system with simulation tools, we adopted JSP technology. Numeric or symbolic calculation is possible communicating with MapleNet server. Any PDA and even a mobile phone which is capable of JSP can carry out a simple simulation and the system is expected to expand the possibility of e-Learning system with PDA.

    本研究では、一般教育の中の自然科学教育に関して、WWWブラウザ上で実際の実験と仮想実験をインタラクティブに行えるシステムの汎用化を中心に行った。
    実際の実験をインターネット越しに遠隔操作で行えるシステムについては、Javaを主に利用して汎用化を図った。実験サーバは実験装置と計算機をRS-232Cで接続し、Java Communication APIを利用することで、このAPIをサポートしていればハードウェアやOSに依らずサーバを構成できるようにした。また、インターネットカメラと同等の手法で、動画配信も汎用化した。クライアントプログラムはWWWブラウザ上のAppletないしJava Applicationとして動作し、プログラム作成支援用のAPIを作成した。
    仮想実験システムについては、Java3D APIおよびSwing APIを利用して、WWWブラウザ上でリアルな3D表示による、主に力学教材となるシミュレーションをいくつか作成し、その汎用化、国際化を行うとともに教育効果について調べた。仮想実験においては、大きさのスケール、リアルタイム性ないし正確なタイムスーケルを保証することが重要であり、さらに、視点の工夫が効果的であることがわかった。異なる視点から、同じ現象を同時に観察することで、色々な法則性を実感し易くなる。また、視点を運動する物体に設定すること等、実際の実験では不可能に近い事も実現でき、仮想体験することが可能になる。
