位置敏感型比例計数管の周りを円柱ポリエチレン減速材で覆うことにより得られる熱中性子分布情報を活用し各位置での検出効率に補正を行うことで、中性子エネルギーに対して平坦応答を示す中性子検出器の開発を進めている。今回、その出力不安定性を改善するための手法に関して検討を行った結果を報告する。

Long counters are widely used as a neutron fluence monitor in various applications by taking advantage of their flat-response feature. Thermal neutron calibration for a neutron detector or a neutron dosimeter is important in the radiation protection filed. Calibrated detection efficiency for the neutron detector or the neutron dosimeter is generally given for thermal neutron energy distribution obtained from a research reactor or a neutron source within a graphite pile.
