    ^12CO(J=1-0, 2-1) and ^13CO(J=1-0) observations by scanning method have been carried out several super nova remnants by NANTEN2 telescope, and whole distribution of molecular clouds associated with super nova remnants is revealed. All interstellargas associated with super nova remnants are estimated by using not only CO data but also data of molecular hydrogen. The interaction between cosmic ray proton and dense interstellar gas is suggested as the origin of the gamma-ray emission from comparison of distribution of interstellar gas with that of gamma-ray emission. In addition, the energy of cosmic ray proton is estimated to be 0.1-1% of the total energy of super nova remnant.

    We have carried out various observations of molecular clouds towards nearby star forming regions, the Galactic plane, and the Large Magellanic Clouds with NANTEN2 submm telescope and Mopra mm telescope. We have also make use of the previous survey results by NANTEN and obtained the detailed physical properties of the molecular clouds. The new data taken by the Infrared Satellites, Planck and Herschel was used to obtain interstellar dust emission as well as point sources. Point source catalog was combined with Spitzer point source catalogs to determine the young stellar objects. All there datasets were used to carryout comprehensive study of molecular clouds, Interstellar dust and star formation processes. There results are used to propose observations of star forming regions by ALMA and our successive proposal started to give us high resolution and high sensitivity data of a nearby star forming region.

    1) NASCO計画の推進
    前年度の光学系の改良案に基づいてアレイ型超伝導受信機の製作を進めた。光学系と受信機本体をクライオスタット内に実装し、冷却試験によって実験室において所期の性能が達成されることを確認した。並行してチリの現地における発電機、制御系他の諸設備の更新を行い、観測環境を整備した。特に発電機についてはいくつかのハード上のトラブルに遭遇したが、メーカー側と密に検討を重ねて問題点を克服した。また現地における制御系の確認も順調に進んでいる。以上の作業期間中、予想外の悪天候(主に雪)に阻まれたこともあって、工程の進捗は予定よりも数ヶ月遅れている。ただし、前年度の受信機の設計変更によって当初の観測目標は達成できる見込みである。
    2) 星間水素の物理状態の追究
    観測データと数値実験結果を用いた疑似観測との比較を継続し、星間水素の物理状態について理解を深化させた。星間水素原子は温度密度が数桁にわたり大きく変化するために投影された観測量と実際の物理状態の詳細を正しく把握することは大きな困難を伴う。我々の研究以前には、この問題に正面から取り組んだ研究はほぼ皆無であった。本研究において創出された成果[Fukui et al. 2018 "Synthetic Observations of 21cm HI Line Profiles from Inhomogeneous Turbulent Interstellar HI Gas with Magnetic Field" (ApJ, in press)]は、星間水素の観測量の意味と、そこから抽出できる情報における物理的な制約をあます所なく堤示することに初めて成功した。また、この成果は、水素分子雲形成、超新星残骸、大質量星形成領域、銀河間相互作用等に幅広く応用されており、星間水素の相転移、重元素量の変動、星間微粒子の進化、宇宙線の定量などの多岐にわたる課題に波及しつつある。
    観測機器の開発はほぼ予定どおりすすんでいる。現地の悪天候に阻まれて現地における計画進行の若干の遅れはあるものの、総合的な科学成果は期待を上回っており、星間水素研究における画期的な成果にまとまることがほぼ確実である。
    特に水素の理論研究との連携による分子雲への相転移の詳細が可視化されてきたことの意義は大きい。HI雲衝突によるガスの圧縮と星団形成、CIによる広域観測など、今後の研究の展開において豊かなポテンシャルが示されており、世界にも類のない成果が創出されることが予想される。
    計画通り新受信機をNANTEN2に搭載し、観測を実施する。
    観測計画の最適化
    計画の当初段階に比べて、水素原子と原子分子相転移に関する理解は著しく深化した。疑似観測結果をもとに、分子雲形成初期の観測的特徴を整理し、最終的な観測計画に反映させる。特に、形成初期の分子雲は、原子の存在量が卓越している可能性があり、また、サイズが小さいと予想される。これに対応するCO分子の観測的な特徴を踏まえて、必要な感度の検討を精密化する。
    プランクとの比較研究の拡張
    プランク衛星の観測結果が更新されたのに伴い、初期のプランクとの比較解析を検討する必要がある。また、ペルセウス座、カメレオン座に加えてあらたな領域に解析を拡張して結果の一般性を確立することが求められる。フェルミ衛星の活用も含めて、これらの課題を遂行する。
    XCO因子の分布の導出等
    本研究の成果の一つとして、COの電波強度を水素全量に変換する係数の導出がある。これを全天の数10%の領域に拡張し、分子雲定量の精密化をはかる。これと同時に、星間微粒子のサイズの進化に関する知見も得られると期待される。さらに、銀河系とマゼラン雲のシステムの重元素量の分布と起源についても画期的な知見が得られることが期待される。
