In this study, we developed a prediction model that takes into account genetic variation within a species to improve climate change impact prediction. Three levels of genetic variation within a species were considered: adaptive single nucleotide variations (SNPs), visible phenotypic traits, and neutral variation. We found that a hierarchical model that takes neutral mutations into account can improve the accuracy of estimating environmental responses.
