    This compound is a synthetic macrocycle comprising three pivaloyl‐protected resorcinarene units connected by six pentylene chains. We conducted a conformational study using 1H‐NMR, X‐ray diffraction (XRD), and computational analyses. The macrocycle adopts two conformers, one open, the other closed. The ratio of the open to closed forms depended on the solvent used. Only the open form existed in [D8]toluene, both forms coexisted in [D6]benzene, and the closed form was the major conformer in [D1]chloroform. The benzene‐solvated open form observed in the solid state suggests that cavity solvation by solvent molecules directs the open form. The open form was the major or only conformer in [D10]o‐ and [D10]m‐xylene and [D12]mesitylene, whereas the closed form was the major conformer in [D6]acetone. The open and closed forms were equally populated in [D10]p‐xylene, suggesting that the size, shape, and dimensions of the solvent molecules most likely influenced the conformation of the protected trisresocinarene.

    Abstract

    Countercation dynamics play a crucial yet largely unexplored role in governing the electronic properties of molecular conductors. Herein, we demonstrate that the fluctuations of flexible supramolecular cations in [Ni(dmit)2]-based molecular conductors (dmit2− = 2-thioxo-1,3-dithiol-4,5-dithiolate) can directly modulate their correlated electronic states. Two salts with nearly spherical supramolecular cations featuring Na+ and Cs+ ions encapsulated by unsubstituted [24]crown-8, Na([24]crown-8)[Ni(dmit)2]3 and Cs2([24]crown-8)2[Ni(dmit)2]7, are synthesized and systematically compared. Detailed crystallographic, magnetic, and transport studies reveal a striking contrast between the two systems. In Na([24]crown-8)[Ni(dmit)2]3, the structural distortion of the Na+-encapsulating [24]crown-8 enables thermally activated large-amplitude out-of-plane fluctuations, thus selectively enhancing the vibrational motion of terminal S atoms in [Ni(dmit)2] layers and leading to the temperature-dependent modulation of transfer integrals, anomalous magnetic behavior requiring a temperature-dependent exchange interaction, and one-dimensional variable-range hopping transport. In contrast, Cs2([24]crown-8)2[Ni(dmit)2]7 features a planar-confined Cs+-based supramolecular cation and suppressed fluctuation transfer to anion layers, thus exhibiting conventional Heisenberg-chain magnetism and Arrhenius-type semiconducting behavior. These results establish supramolecular-cation dynamics as a powerful design parameter for controlling electronic correlation and transport in molecular conductors.

    Z-Specific (99% cis) and E-specific (90% trans) syntheses of functionalized bottlebrush polymers (BBPs) by living ring opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of exo-N-substituted norbornene-2,3-dicarboximides (NDIs) containing terthiophene (3T) and pyrene (Pyr) moieties connected to a long methylene spacer (n-dodecyl) have been demonstrated by the (arylimido)-vanadium(V)-alkylidene catalysts in toluene at 50 °C. Thermal properties in the resultant BBPs measured by DSC thermograms are affected by the cis/trans selectivity; the resultant cis-BBPs containing 3T possessed a melting temperature at 111.2 °C, whereas the corresponding trans-BBPs are amorphous. The differences in cis-/trans-BBPs (containing 3T, Pyr) toward the emission properties have also been demonstrated due to a different degree in the inter/intra-polymer interaction through the functionality.

    The synthesis and structural analysis of (Me3SiC5H4)TiCl2(OAr) [OAr = O-2,6-iPr2-4-RC6H2; R = H, SiEt3] revealed that it exhibits higher catalytic activities than (tBuC5H4)TiCl2(OAr), Cp*TiCl2(OAr), with efficient comonomer incorporation in ethylene/styrene copolymerization in the presence of a methylaluminoxane (MAO) cocatalyst. The catalytic activity in the copolymerization increased upon increasing the charged styrene concentration along with the increase in the styrene content in the copolymers, whereas the activities of other catalysts showed the opposite trend. (Me3SiC5H4)TiCl2(O-2,6-iPr2C6H3) displayed the most suitable catalyst performance in terms of its activity and styrene incorporation, affording amorphous copolymers with styrene contents higher than 50 mol% (up to 63.6 mol%) and with random styrene incorporation confirmed by 13C-NMR spectra.

    Acenes are attractive as building blocks for low gap organic materials with applications, for example, in organic light emitting diodes, solar cells, bioimaging and diagnostics. Previously, we have shown that modification of dipyridylanthracene via B‐N Lewis pair fusion (BDPA) strongly redshifts the emission, while facilitating self‐sensitized reactivity toward O2 to reversibly generate the corresponding endoperoxides. Herein, we report on the further expansion of the p‐system of BDPA to a vinyl‐substituted monomer, vinylene‐bridged dimer, and a polymer with an average of 20 chromophores. The extension of π‐conjugation results in largely reduced band gaps of 1.8 eV for the dimer and 1.7 eV for the polymer, the latter giving rise to NIR emission with a maximum at 731 nm and an appreciable quantum yield of 7%. Electrochemical and computational studies reveal efficient delocalization of the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) along the pyridyl‐anthracene‐pyridyl axis, which results in effective electronic communication between BDPA units, selectively lowers the LUMO, and ultimately narrows the band gap. Time‐resolved emission and transient absorption (TA) measurements offer insights into the pertinent photophysical processes. Extension of π‐conjugation also slows down the self‐sensitized formation of endoperoxides, while significantly accelerating the thermal release of singlet oxygen to regenerate the parent acenes.

    (1.トリスレゾルシンアレーンの合成)複数の包接サイトをもつホスト分子は分子触媒や超分子ネットワークポリマーへの応用が期待できる。しかし,複数の包接サイトを連結したホスト分子の合成は多段階を要する。出発物質として奇数のアルキル鎖で連結されたジアセタールを用いた縮環反応を行ったところ,三つのレゾルシンアレーンが六本のアルキル鎖によって連結されたトリスレゾルシンアレーンが得られた。
    (2.ビスキャビタンドの配座解析)ビスレゾルシンアレーンは二つの包接部位がねじれたらせん構造を有する。らせん反転における活性化パラメータを求めたところ,らせん反転は対称性の高い構造を遷移構造として起こっていることが示唆された。さらに,分子構造とらせん反転機構の相関を詳細に調査するために,様々な置換基により修飾したビスキャビタンド分子を合成した。同様に活性化パラメータを求めたところ,置換基の構造に関わらずらせん反転機構は同じであることがわかった。
    (3.ビスキャビタンドのエントロピー駆動によるゲスト包接)生体分子を模倣するためにアロステリックレセプターは盛んに開発されてきた。ビスキャビタンド分子のアンモニウム塩に対する会合挙動について調べたところ,ゲスト包接はエントロピー駆動の協同性を発現していることがわかった。
    (4.不斉増殖により誘導される超分子らせんポリマーの不斉空間)人類はキラルな配位子場を用いた不斉合成法の開発に成功しているが,不斉空間を利用した分子変換技術に関して知見は限られている。我々は自己集合キラルカプセルを開発している。そこで,キラルカプセルを構造的に連結させた超分子らせんポリマー合成し,不斉増殖効果により空の不斉空間を提供することを考えた。我々が開発したビスキャビタンド分子は構造的にリンクしているため,ビスキャビタンド分子の自己集合により超分子らせんポリマーを与えることがわかった。
