    Medical applications of atmospheric pressure plasmas, including in cancer therapy, have attracted growing interest. Although ·NO in plasma-activated Ringer's lactate (PAL) solutions have been reported to exhibit selective cancer-killing effects, its radical dynamics during such treatments remains unclear due to the short lifetimes. The present study investigated the dynamics of ·NO in PAL solutions using electron spin resonance spectroscopy and fluorescence staining under varied plasma conditions. The results indicate the long-term generation of ·NO in PAL solutions over 6 h. The simultaneous presence of HNO<inf>2</inf>, H<inf>2</inf>O<inf>2</inf> and O<inf>3</inf> in that solution may play a crucial role in the generation of ·NO. These findings suggest that PAL solutions could function as sustainable ·NO sources, potentially enhancing the effectiveness of plasma-based therapies.

    <p>Although flexible and thermally conductive composite materials are required for applications in flexible devices, there is generally a trade-off relationship between the thermal conductivity and the mechanical properties such as flexibility and toughness. It is also difficult to achieve composites combing these properties with high value. Here, this paper reviews tough-composites resolving this issue by utilizing cross-linking network composed of slide-ring polymers and plasma surface modification for filler dispersion. Uniform dispersion of fillers enabled the movable cross-linking points to enhance pulley effects which could result in relaxation of stress concentration around fillers to suppress embrittlement of composites. These approaches achieved tough composites, which combine flexibility and toughness. Moreover, filler alignment by electric fields in order to form thermally conductive pathway is also introduced, as a way to achieve tough-composites with a metal-class thermal conductivity and a rubber-class flexibility.</p>

    二次元材料の1つである六方晶窒化ホウ素(h-BN)は、近年はその表面に誘起される欠陥がスピン三重項や光学活性といった性質を備えることが注目され、量子デバイス応用に期待が寄せられる。応募者はプラズマ照射でも光学活性・スピン三重項を伴う表面欠陥の誘起と活性化、すなわち表面機能化が可能なことを明らかにした。しかしプラズマ表面反応は結晶表面構造とプラズマの相互作用で成り立ち、その複雑な機構は特定の欠陥誘起・活性化を困難にしている。本研究は制御された機能性欠陥形成(欠陥エンジニアリング)を実現すべく、基板成膜から一貫してプラズマ表面機能化を解明し、次世代量子デバイス開発としての技術確立を目指す。

    近年は異種物質を分子レベルで接合したナノハイブリッド材料が注目を集め、有機材料と無機材料の特性を両立した有機/無機複合材料や、異なる二次元物質に積層したヘテロ構造体の研究が盛んに進められている。本研究課題はプラズマによる非平衡反応場を活用することでナノ粒子表面での異種層形成を実現し、次世代ナノハイブリッド材料合成プロセスの開発を目的としている。
    特に液相中で局所的にプラズマを生成する液中プラズマは、熱化を抑制しつつ液相中に溶解・分散させた有機化合物やナノ粒子表面の活性化が可能であり、任意の有機ラジカルを前駆体としたナノ粒子表面での高効率かつ選択的な異種層形成が期待できる。そのため本研究では、液中プラズマにおける①ナノ粒子表面活性化の過程と、②連鎖的な有機ラジカル生成過程を解明・制御することで、六方晶窒化ホウ素(h-BN)を初めとするナノ粒子表面での異種層形成を実現する。
    これまでの研究から、液中プラズマによるh-BNの表面改質ではまず表面にダングリングボンドが形成し、そこが起点となって官能基やアモルファスカーボンの修飾が起こることが示されている。そこで本年度は表面活性化過程の解明のため、プラズマとh-BN表面の相互作用によるダングリングボンド形成過程、および形成したダングリングボンドに対する修飾反応過程を、電子スピン共鳴分析(ESR)を活用して調査した。具体的には大気圧プラズマ装置とESRを直結することで、h-BN表面でのダングリングボンド・欠陥形成過程をその場計測できるin situ ESRを開発し、反応メカニズム解明に取り組んだ。また液中プラズマ表面改質h-BNを大気環境下で長期間ESR分析を行うことで、空気酸化によるダングリングボンドへの修飾反応過程を明らかにし、さらに定量的な分析による速度論的解析を実現した。
