Teachers in Japan face work-related mental health issues, such as depression and adjustment disorders. The number of elementary school teachers taking leave of absence due to mental illness has been increasing every year and is high according to international standards. One of the reasons for this was the workload on a single teacher, resulting in long working hours. The authors believe that the reason for long working hours may be the Japanese classroom management style. This chapter compares the Japanese classroom management style of elementary school teachers with the classroom management styles of other countries, such as India, and discusses the reasons for the long working hours under the Japanese classroom management style.

The purpose of this research is to develop a ``new Japanese-style classroom management model that is hygienic and safe'' in India, based on Japanese classroom management. First, we will conduct an analysis of school health and hygiene in India and Japan and conduct a questionnaire survey of teachers. Second, we will create teaching materials based on a model of Japanese-style education that ``recognizes diversity'' and ``hygiene and safety,'' and practice classroom management for Indian students. Third, we will examine the validity of the model by conducting a questionnaire survey of Indian students before and after the implementation. As a result of this research, we will utilize Japanese-style education of healthy and safe living and group collaboration to promote health and safety in Indian schools amidst the spread of infectious diseases. It will also serve as basic research for Japanese-style educational transfer and international school health and safety education.
