    The transport properties of a topological Josephson junction fabricated from a magnetically doped topological insulator (TI) were investigated. The conductance spectra of the Nb/Fe-Bi2Te2Se/Nb junction below 1 K showed an unusual trident-shaped zero-bias conductance peak with a tiny peak width of similar to 6 mu V. The central peak of the trident peak presents the dc-Josephson current, and the side peaks may reflect an induced unconventional Cooper pairing. Additionally. the critical currents followed inverse to temperature, which may also reflect the presence of an unconventional proximity effect. Furthermore, microwave irradiation drived a drastic change in the conductance spectra from the peak structure into oscillatory ones, a hallmark of the ac-Josephson supercurrent. The current-phase relation of the ac-Josephson effect under high power radiofrequency-irradiation was found to be 4 pi-periodic. The results suggest that the junction based on magnetically doped 3D TIs may realize an unconventional Cooper pairing, thus enabling access to the basic physics of Majorana bound states and unconventional superconductivity.

    We studied magnetized topological insulator/superconductor junctions with the expectation of unconventional superconductive states holding Majorana fermions induced by superconductive proximity effects on the surface states of magnetized topological insulators (TIs), attached by conventional superconductors. We introduced Fe-doped BiSbTe2Se as an ideal magnetic TI and used the developed junction fabrication process to access the proximity-induced surface superconducting states. The bulk single crystals of the Fe-doped TI showed excellent bulk-insulating properties and ferromagnetism simultaneously at a low temperature. Meanwhile, the fabricated junctions also showed an insulating behavior above 100 K, as well as metallic conduction at a low temperature, which reflects bulk carrier freezing. In addition, we observed a proximity-induced gap structure in the conductance spectra. These results indicate that the junctions using the established materials and process are preferable to observe unconventional superconducting states which are induced via the surface channels of the magnetized TI. We believe that the developed process can be applied for the fabrication of complicated junctions and suites for braiding operations.

    We have used angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy to investigate the band structure of ReS2, a transitionmetal dichalcogenide semiconductor with a distorted 1T crystal structure. We find a large number of narrow valence bands, which we attribute to the combined influence of structural distortion and spin-orbit coupling. We further show how this leads to a strong in-plane anisotropy of the electronic structure, with quasi-one-dimensional bands reflecting predominant hopping along zigzag Re chains. We find that this does not persist up to the top of the valence band, where a more three-dimensional character is recovered with the fundamental band gap located away from the Brillouin zone center along k(z). These experiments are in good agreement with our density-functional theory calculations, shedding light on the bulk electronic structure of ReS2, and how it can be expected to evolve when thinned to a single layer.

    Searching for high performance thermoelectric materials, which can directly convert heat into electricity or vice versa, is still a great challenging issue especially for high-temperature heat energy recovering. Recently, AgCrSe2 has been reported to have ZT &gt; 1 at 773 K (ZT = (ST)-T-2/rho kappa) in spite of relatively low power factor (PF = S-2/rho similar to 2.5 mu W/cmK(2) at 773 K). The key factor of this high ZT in this material is attributed to ultralow thermal conductivity kappa due to phonon scattering by ionic conduction. In order to find a better material having disordered or mobile ions and higher PF simultaneously, we investigated single crystals of cousin compounds AgxCr2+y (S1-zSez)(4). The resistivity is found to drastically drop by the substitution of Se for S, while maintaining high Seebeck coefficient. Consequently, AgxCr2+ySe4 (analytically x = 0.70 and y = 0.15) was revealed as a promising candidate for high temperature thermoelectric material having about twice higher PF than that of AgCrSe2.

    ACrX(2) (A = Cu, Ag; X = S, Se) compounds have a layered triangular structure similar to that of delafossites. In addition to a large variety of physical and chemical properties found in centrosymmetric delafossites, the broken inversion symmetry along the c-axis in this system leads to the emergence of additional functionalities such as piezoelectric, pyroelectric, and/or nonlinear optical properties. We found that the chemical vapor transport (CVT) technique using CrCl3 was the best growth method for ACrX(2). In the case of A = Cu, however, a standard CVT procedure always produced a certain amount of a secondary phase, identified as the CuCr2X4 spinet,which significantly affected magnetic and transport properties. By a modified CVT technique with appropriate heat treatments, pure single crystals of CuCrX2 were successfully grown. The resistivity of ACrX(2) was systematically changed by the combinations of A and X atoms. In contrast to metallic selenides, sulfides were confirmed to be insulators with giant anisotropy (10(2) approximate to 10(3)) between the out-of-plane (c-direction) and the in-plane (ab-plane) resistivity. In both X = S and Se, resistivity for A = Ag was higher than that for A = Cu. The drastic change in resistivity without carrier doping suggests that ionic conductivity and strong electron correlations play an important role in these materials.

    &lt;p&gt;近年,MoS2やWTe2などのCr族化合物において,スピン自由度を使ったデバイス応用や,巨大磁気抵抗を発現するような興味深い物性が報告されている.しかし,CrX2層を中心とした化合物においては,そのような測定に適する単結晶育成が難しかったり,CrX2が大気中不安定であったりするがゆえに合成が難しく,これまで詳しく調べられることがほとんどなかった.我々は昨年,CuCrX2単結晶からCrX2単結晶ことに成功したことを報告した.今回,これらのCrX2層をもつ物質に対して系統的にドーピングを行い,抵抗率が急激に変化する現象などを観測したのでこれを報告する.&lt;/p&gt;
