    <p>Spin crossover (SCO) complexes are materials whose magnetic properties can be controlled by external stimuli, such as heat, pressure, light and so on. Among the SCO complexes, some of them show different physical properties between crystals and films. For example, a SCO complex (Fe(tdap)<sub>2</sub>(NCS)<sub>2</sub>) shows a sharp SCO transition at around 350 K in solid phase, while it shows a slow transition with a hysteresis in thin film phase. By performing infrared spectroscopy, we clearly observed peaks indicating the vibrations of the thiocyanate ligand together with a peak suggesting the presence of high-spin states in the solid phase. In this presentation, we will discuss the origin of the difference in magnetic property of this Fe(tdap)<sub>2</sub>(NCS)<sub>2</sub> based on vibration measurements.</p>

    The purpose of this study is to develop the unique physics of sp2 carbon allotropes like graphene by using molecules as building blocks. We have obtained highly symmetric 2D network structures of 3-fold symmetric triptycene derivatives. Systematic band calculations on these crystal structures revealed that the doubly degenerated molecular orbitals of symmetric triptycene derivatives can provide the flat band in addition to the Dirac cone.

    化学への理解と興味は,講義を聴いて知識を得るのみではなく,自らが実験を行い自分の目や鼻などを通じて実際に得られた知見を通じて深められます。この科目では,原子分子の成り立ち,化学分析,化合物の合成,反応解析など,化学の様々な分野における課題を対象とした実験と演習を行うことにより,講義で述べられた範囲を補い化学への理解を深めます。さらに,これらの実験操作を通じて,物質を安全に取り扱うための基本的な注意事項,各種化学薬品・器具・機器の操作法などを修得します。また,実験レポートの作成を通じて,分かりやすく簡潔に実験内容をまとめる手法を学び,実験結果について考察することにより物質科学に関する知識や論理的な思考力を養います。

    The objective of this course is to learn how to effectively perform experiments in a detailed, oriented manner including carefully taking notes of the procedures, findings, and questions that may arise from the experiments. The other objective is to clearly and concisely convey to others the findings of the experiments that support your conclusion. Motto: Perform the experiments by yourself, visually observe and record what happened in the experiments, and report the results clearly.
