    本研究では、SHINERSラマン分光法を立ち上げ、燃料電池カソード電極触媒反応に展開し、触媒表面の化学種の構造解析とCT-XAFS分光による金属触媒の局所構造解析を組み合わせた新しいオペランドイメージング計測を行う。酸素還元反応のための電極触媒や複合酸化物触媒の触媒反応における化学種と活性構造の関係を明らかにし、触媒活性構造や反応の可視化を行うことを目指す。
    SHINERSラマン分光に用いるためのAgを用いたSHIN粒子の合成法の検討を行った。Ag前駆体、配位子、調製時の溶液のpH、粒子成長条件、Ag粒子の還元条件等を検討して、SHIN粒子の素となる粒径の異なるAgナノ粒子のコアを作成する方法を検討した。複数の粒径のAg粒子を作成し、NaBH4で還元したAgナノ粒子の表面に3-アミノプロピルトリメトキシシランを用いてシリカ薄層を調製する方法を検討した。調製したSHIN粒子の粒径やAg粒子表面のシリカ薄層の形成は、TEM、UV-vis分光によって評価した。また、調製したSHIN粒子にピリジンを吸着させ、ラマンスペクトルを計測することで、SHIN粒子表面のシリカ薄層のピンホールの有無の評価を行った。
    UV-vis測定から、49-148 nmの粒径のAgナノ粒子の形成が確認され、粒径のそろったAg粒子を系統的に合成できることを見出した。TEMによる観察から、合成したAg粒子表面にシリカ層が形成されている様子が確認されたが、一部シリカ薄層が担持されていない領域が見出され、Ag粒子表面にシリカ薄層の形成が均質に進行していないことが分かった。また、ラマン計測によって、シリカ薄層にピンホールが残っており、Ag粒子表面が露出している箇所があることが分かった。SHINERS計測に適するSHIN粒子の合成として、Ag粒子表面を完全にシリカ薄層でコーティングするための調製条件の検討を継続している。
    また、オペランドSHINERS計測のための装置改造、SHINERS分光データの解析プログラムの作成、放射光イメージングXAFS分光の解析を開始し、電極触媒のデータ解析を行った。
    コロナのため、来日は遅れたが、来日後は順調に研究を実施できている。SHINERS分光のためのナノ粒子の合成とイメージングXAFSによる電極触媒の構造解析を両面から進めており、成果も出始めている。
    コロナ禍が続くため、SPring-8放射光施設を使った実験をピンポイントに実施できる状況を整えながら、所属機関にて触媒・材料合成、オペランドSHINERS測定立ち上げ、解析を並行して実施する。

  2. 構造制御されたPtNiナノクラスターの合成と燃料電池電極触媒への展開

    本研究では、独自に合成したマイクロポーラスカーボン材料を利用して、その細孔内で燃料電池カソード触媒反応に有効なPt系合金電極触媒の合成し、電極触媒としての触媒活性を評価し、活性・耐久性に優れた電極触媒を開発する。回転ディスク電極を用いた電気化学評価を行い、酸素還元反応活性、活性比表面積、加速劣化試験に対する活性変化などを検討する。
    本研究では、中空多孔性カーボン材料を合成し、この細孔内を利用したPt-Ni合金電極触媒粒子を調製し、その構造、酸素還元反応特性、耐久性を明らかにすることを目的とした。中空多孔性シリカを鋳型として、中空多孔性カーボンHPCSを合成し、Pt及びNi錯体を2,2'ジピリジルアミン (dpa) 共存下含浸し、乾燥、水素による還元処理を行うことで、HPCSに担持されたPt-Ni合金ナノ粒子を調製した。TEM観察及びXRD解析の結果、HPCS内に平均粒径2.0±0.4 nmのPt-Ni合金ナノ粒子が形成されていることがわかった。dpaがない場合には、顕著な合金の相分離と粒径の増大が見られた。dpa以外の様々な有機配位子を用いた合成を検討したところ、ピリジン骨格を有する有機分子が粒径制御に有効であり、dpaで最も小さいPt-Ni合金ナノ粒子が得られることがわかった。
    Pt/Ni比の異なる複数のPt-Ni/HPCS触媒を合成し、RDEを用いた酸素還元反応(ORR)活性の評価を行ったところ、Pt-Ni/HPCS触媒は、市販のPt/C触媒やKBに担持したPt-Ni触媒と比較してECSAが大きく、MA, SAとも優れた活性値を示した。Pt/Ni=1.22の試料が最もORR活性が高く、0.9 Vで3.25 A mg-1_PtのMAを示し、市販のPt/Cと比較して13.5倍の値であった。加速劣化試験によって触媒の耐久性を評価したところ、加速劣化試験回数に伴ってECSAの低下は見られるものの、市販のPt/Cと比較してその低下は緩やかであり、60,000回の加速劣化試験後にも2.3±0.4 nmの粒径を維持していることが分かった。
    また、このdpaを利用したPt系合金ナノ粒子の触媒調製法を更に発展させ、メタノールを用いた電極酸化反応触媒の調製も行った。

    We have developed XAFS-spectroscopy-imaging techniques combining hard X-ray imaging techniques and X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (spectroscopy) for the visualization of spatial element information inside solid materials. XAFS imaging provides spatial distribution of each element, oxidation state, local coordination structure inside solid particles and crystals and we visualized the reaction diffusions inside mixed oxides and solid catalysts by the XAFS imaging techniques. We succeeded in visualizing the oxidation reaction track inside ceria-zirconia solid-solution materials and redox reaction behaviors of Cr-doped iron oxide crystals for the first time.

    Unique metal coordination asymmetry on solid surfaces were prepared by metal-complex attachment and surface functionalization techniques. By the collaborative works in the research unit, the attachment and functionalization of Co3 cluster, V complex, Tb complex were achieved on SiO2 surfaces and new asymmetric coordination structures were prepared at the surfaces. We characterized the prepared asymmetric coordination structures by XAFS, CD, CPL, theoretical calculation etc. and their unique reaction performances were investigated.
