    Porous materials with high-performance characteristics and specific geometric shapes were created and incorporated into heat transport devices to assess their system-level performance. Optimal conditions were determined for different types of heat transport devices, and device design and fabrication followed established guidelines. A novel method using magnetic nanoparticles as a mold was proposed to produce directional porous materials, and multiple prototypes were manufactured under various resin and production conditions. The results showed that the characteristics of the porous materials varied significantly based on the applied magnetic field and the removal conditions of magnetic nanoparticle chains. Furthermore, manufacturing conditions were identified that produced porous materials with desirable properties for heat transport devices.

    In anticipation of the sophistication and smartification of space missions, we proposed the concept of a thermo-fluid control network with a multi-evaporator type loop heat pipe which satisfies high heat flux, small size and light weight, and large thermal fluctuation response. We succeeded in constructing a high-performance multi-evaporator type loop heat pipe based on the fundamental academic findings of high heat flux on the evaporator and understanding of the elementary process of the condenser, and demonstrating high heat transport characteristics and autonomous heat control function in a simulated space environment.

    In order to achieve a high precise thermal strain design of spacecraft, a simultaneous measurement for a coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and a thermal diffusivity has been proposed, and its feasibility was experimentally examined. A new measurement method which consists of a heterodyne interferometry which has a good advantage in high wavelength resolution for the CTE, and periodic heating method for the thermal diffusivity has been developed. First, a measurement accuracy was evaluated with a single crystal silicon. Second, the temperature dependence of the CTE for carbon fiber reinforced plastic was measured, finally, a simultaneous measurement of the CTE and the thermal diffusivity for Al alloy was conducted and its high-accurate measurement was demonstrated.

    宇宙機用のパッシブな熱制御デバイスとして、金属絶縁体相転移物質に着目し,その放射率可変機能、熱伝導率可変機能、蓄熱機能の三つの機能を有する多機能熱制御デバイスを一つの材料で実現することを最終目標として研究を行った。二酸化バナジウム(VO2),ペロブスカイト型マンガン酸化物(LSMO,LPMO)等を候補材料に選定し,試料の製作方法を確立するとともに,各種熱物性値を独自の熱物性計測装置で明らかにした。また,さらに高い熱伝導変化特性を付加するために,メソポーラス物質(SBA-15, Santa Babara Amorphous)を付加した試料の作製を行った。また,VO2の課題である高い相転移温度点を下げるため,タングステンをドープすることで相転移温度が20℃以下まで低下させることを試みた。最終的にはVWO2とLSMOの二層構造による多機能熱制御デバイスを考案し,熱伝導率可変機能と蓄熱機能はVWO2に,放射率可変機能は放射率変化が0.4以上有するLSMOに持たせる構成を提案した。
    安定した特性を有するVWO2を製作方法を確立するため,放電プラズマ焼結法により,焼結温度,バインダーの配合量をパラメータとした試作を行った。次にX線回折,真密度測定,相転移温度計測により最適製作条件を同定し,VWO2バルク材料の製作に成功した。さらに熱伝導率,放射率,比熱を測定し,相転移温度11℃,蓄熱量11J/g,熱伝導率変化量4.85倍となる優れた特性を実現した。一方放射率測定においては,リード線からの熱損失等の影響で測定精度に課題が残った。
