超短パルスファイバレーザーは,最も安定で実用的,且つポテンシャルの高い超短パルス光源であり,光周波数コムやバイオイメージング,レーザー加工等のレーザー応用技術に広く活用されて来ている.今後,レーザーおよびその応用技術の進展のためには,更なる高機能光源の開発や新たな展開が不可欠である.本研究では,これまでの申請者の研究を更に発展させ,カーボンナノチューブ等を用いた高次機能超短パルスファイバレーザー光源の開発と先端光計測技術への展開を行う.

本研究は、実世界とビッグデータなどのデジタル技術をつなぐために必要不可欠なアナログ-デジタル変換システムについて、電子工学的なアプローチの時間ジッタ(信号取得のタイミングの精度)に関するサブピコ秒の限界を超えた超高速信号処理の「未踏の領域」における性能向上の方向性と具体的なアプローチの開拓を目的とし、システム全体の信号高品質化の緻密な分析の結果に基づき、強度ジッタ(信号取得のレベルの精度)に着目した新しい“光化”の取り組みを世界に先駆けて試みる。
本年度は,
①光サンプリング信号の位相・振幅同時評価システムの構築について、時間ジッタおよび強度ジッタに関係する位相および振幅雑音を同時に測定可能なコンスタレーション表示による光サンプリング信号のスクイージングに関する詳細な状態解析を行うため,光サンプリング信号のコヒーレント受信が可能な信号評価システムを構築し、情報通信研究機構と共同して広帯域な短パルスの位相をスペクトル分割して観測することを試みた.
②ショット雑音以下の安定な光ソリトン発生系の構築について、コンスタレーション表示が可能な信号評価システムにより光ソリトン発生系の詳細な状態解析と調整を行う予定であったが,バランスド検出を用いた比較的低繰り返しでの基礎実験によるショット雑音以下でのスクイージング効果の実現を目指し,シミュレーションによる原理確認と実験によるショット雑音レベルでの確認を行った.
③シリコン細線導波路による超安定化の可能性検討については、上記の構築した安定な光ソリトン発生系について,非常に高い非線形光学特性を持つことが報告されているシリコン細線導波路の試作を行い利用可能性の検討を試みた.導波路幅を3種類(0.45, 0.40, 0.35um)、導波路長を3種類(0.95, 1.95, 2.95cm)用意し,入力光パワーを0、10、20dBの3段階で可変減衰させたときの出力光スペクトルを観察し,導波路幅0.45umおよび導波路長1cm以上がスペクトル広がりを起こしやすいことを確認した。
本年度目標としていた①光サンプリング信号の位相・振幅同時評価システムの構築、②ショット雑音以下の安定な光ソリトン発生系の構築、③シリコン細線導波路による超安定化の可能性検討についてそれぞれ、①構築した系での信号評価の動作確認、②シミュレーションによる原理確認と実験によるショット雑音レベルでの確認、③シリコン細線導波路の試作を行い当初の目標を達成したため。各項目の詳細を以下に示す。

②ショット雑音以下の安定な光ソリトン発生系の構築について、コンスタレーション表示が可能な信号評価システムにより光ソリトン発生系の詳細な状態解析と調整を行う予定であったが,バランスド検出を用いた比較的低繰り返しでの基礎実験によるショット雑音以下でのスクイージング効果の実現を目指し,シミュレーションによる原理確認と実験によるショット雑音レベルでの確認を行った.
③シリコン細線導波路による超安定化の可能性検討については、上記の構築した安定な光ソリトン発生系について,非常に高い非線形光学特性を持つことが報告されているシリコン細線導波路の試作を行い利用可能性の検討を試みた.また、いくつかの条件において出力光スペクトルを観察し,導波路幅0.45umおよび導波路長1cm以上がスペクトル広がりを起こしやすいことを確認した。
今後は、昨年度までに得られた①光サンプリング信号の位相・振幅同時評価システムの構築、②ショット雑音以下の安定な光ソリトン発生系の構築、③シリコン細線導波路による超安定化の可能性検討についての個々の成果を有機的に連携させながら、研究の推進を図る。具体的には、①構築した系での実際の信号評価を実験系の最適化に導入、②シミュレーションによる条件検討内容を①と連携させながら実験系の最適化に導入、③シリコン細線導波路による最適な非線形スペクトル変化の生成についての基礎検討を進めることにより個々の成果を有機的に連携させていく。
長波長帯波長可変超短パルスファイバレーザーを用いた多機能深部イメージング

1.1.7 um帯広帯域SC光源を用いた高深達光コヒーレンス顕微鏡(OCM)の開発と深部イメージング
Er添加ファイバレーザーの出力を増幅後,ファイバ中の誘導ラマン散乱を用いて波長1.7um帯に波長シフトをした高出力超短パルス光を生成した.更に,高非線形ファイバに結合してスペクトルを拡げ,全ファイバ型の波長1.7um帯広帯域SC光源を開発した.そして,開発したSC光源とおよび長波長帯用フォトダイオードアレイと回折格子を用いた広帯域分光器を開発し,同波長帯における高深達・高分解能な光コヒーレンス顕微鏡(OCM)を開発した.そして,マウス脳において~1.8mmまでの深部の高解像イメージングに成功し,神経細胞の高分解能なイメージングに成功した.
2.OCT/OCMと多光子顕微鏡を融合したマルチモーダル顕微鏡の開発
単一の長波長用高NAレンズを用いて,波長1.7umのSC光源を用いたOCMと,波長1.55umの超短パルスレーザーを用いた3光子励起蛍光顕微鏡を融合した,マルチモーダル顕微鏡を開発した.更に,開発した顕微鏡を用いて植物細胞の観測を行い,OCMの深部構造イメージと3光子顕微鏡の高解像イメージの比較を行った.OCMでは構造が,3光子顕微鏡では蛍光物質が観測できた.そして,二つのイメージングを結合することで,全体構造の中で,特定の場所に分布する蛍光物質を観測することができ,バイオイメージングに有効な情報を得ることができた.

1. ファイバレーザーベース可視域OCTの開発
Yb添加高出力超短パルスファイバレーザー光源とフォトニック結晶ファイバを用いた可視域で安定に動作する広帯域光源を開発した.そして,その光源を用いて,可視域におけるOCTを開発した.分解能2.7um,感度90dBの特性を得ることができた.更に,開発した可視域OCTを用いて,生体サンプルのイメージングを行った.豚の甲状腺等のイメージングを行い,高精細なイメージを得ることができた.
2.波長1.7um帯周波数領域光コヒーレンス顕微鏡の開発
ファイバレーザーべースの波長1.7um帯SC光源と,新たに波長1.7um帯の広帯域・高分解能な分光器を開発し,NAの大きな対物レンズを活用して,長波長帯で高速に動作するOCMを開発した.開発したシステムを用いて,脳組織の微細構造を約1.7mmの深部まで観察することができた.更に,従来主に用いられていた波長1.3umとの比較を行い,波長1.7um帯ではより深部まで観測できることを確認した.

Ultra-wideband dual comb source based on nanotube fiber laser

First, we developed highly stable optical frequency comb source using nonlinear polarization rotation type ultrashort pulse fiber laser, and octave spanning, coherent supercontinuum comb source. Next, we investigated quasi-dispersion increasing comb profiled fiber. Using the developed comb profile fibers, we demonstrated the narrow linewidth, wavelength tunable comb source. We also developed novel single wall carbon nanotube polyimide film working at 2.0 um wavelength range. Using the developed nanotube film device, an all-fiber type, high power, ultrashort pulse Tm doped fiber laser was developed.
At 1.55 um wavelength range, we demonstrated all-polarization maintaining type, bi-directional dual comb fiber. Then we succeeded in the fundamental experiment of wideband dual comb spectroscopy. Finally, we developed environmentally stable, all-polarization maintaining, figure 9 fiber laser. The dynamics inside the laser and the initial process of passive mode-locking were clarified.
