    <p>The key of compressed sensing technology is to find out the feature elements (bases) contained in the original signal from few sampled measurements. In this paper, we introduce theories of compressed sensing techniques based on machine learning and their application to scanning transmission electron microscopy, electron energy loss spectroscopy, and electron holography, in which the bases are extracted by suitable statistical signal processing (sparse coding and tensor decomposition).</p>

    <p>All-solid-state lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are promising candidates of next-generation secondary batteries that have the potential to overcome the problems of conventional LIBs with liquid-electrolytes. However, it is known that the Li-ion conduction resistance at the electrode/solid-electrolyte interface limits their performance. It is important to elucidate interfacial phenomena at the nanometer scale and feed it back to material design. In this paper, we use scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) coupled with electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) to dynamically observe the distribution of Li and the electronic state of transition metals in an all-solid-state LIB during the charge-discharge reactions. The distribution of Li was quantitatively observed under dynamic conditions by applying multivariate analysis. The results showed that Li ions were heterogeneously extracted/inserted during the charge/discharge reaction, and that the activity of the electrochemical reaction depended on the Li-ion concentration at the original state (as deposition). The origin of the interfacial resistance was the electrochemically inactive Co<sub>3</sub>O<sub>4</sub> formed at 10–20 nm near the interface.</p>

    A method for generating electron lattice beams carrying vortices using nanofabricated polygonal slits in a transmission electron microscope is proposed. Experimental and simulation study of the intensity of the beams verified their Bessel beam-like nearly non- diffracting behavior. Phase analysis using a diffractive imaging method found arrays of quantized vortices, forming an electron beam lattice with cylindrical intensity distribu- tion in the propagation direction. Such vortex lattice beams may be used in a variety of applications including nanofabrication, particle manipulation or a new electron imaging method.

    The present study experimentally examines how an electron vortex beam with orbital angular momentum (OAM) undergoes diffraction through a forked grating. The nth-order diffracted electron vortex beam after passing through a forked grating with a Burgers vector of 1 shows an OAM transfer of n@. Hence, the diffraction patterns become mirror asymmetric owing to the size difference between the electron beams. Such a forked grating, when used in combination with a pinhole located at the diffraction plane, could act as an analyzer to measure the OAM of input electrons.

    Electron vortex beams carrying orbital angular momentum have been experimentally realized very recently. Here, we present the generation and propagation dynamics of electron vortex pairs embedded in a single beam, using a nanofabricated holographic grating. The rotation of two electron vortices with the same topological charges and the annihilation of two electron vortices with opposite charges were observed. The experimental results are well explained by the Gouy phase shift and confirmed by numerical simulations of the propagation. The results of this study may help develop an intuitive understanding of electron vortex motion and give a new viewpoint for analyzing electron microscope images and phase change in a crystal.

    A Young's-type double-slit experiment using electron beams carrying orbital angular momentum (OAM) is demonstrated in a transmission electron microscope. Each of the slits is replaced by a grating mask with a fork dislocation, which generates electron beams with OAM as diðracted beams. Interference fringes produced by two diðracted electron beams with OAM appear at the observation screen. The interference fringe patterns exhibit dislocation features depending on the topological charges of the two electron beams. The experimental results clearly show the wave nature of the electron beams with OAM and gives potential applications in electron physics and quantum mechanics.

    Structure refinement of a water quenched alloy of Al72Ni20Co8, which is known as a highly ordered decagonal quasicrystal, has been carried out by quantitative comparison of experimental and simulated intensities of convergent-beam electron diffraction (CBED) patterns. In the present study, higher-order Laue zone reflections, whose intensities are sensitively changed with atom positions, have been used for the refinement of atom position parameters in the quasiperiodic directions. The refined parameters have been compared with the results obtained by X-ray diffraction.

    This paper presents a method of phase retrieval of electron rocking curves observed in a convergent-beam electron diffraction (CBED) pattern by introducing total variation (TV) and total squared variation (TSV) regularizations. The TV and TSV regularizations contribute to suppress overfitting to noise and background in rocking curves and to reproduce the sparse characteristic of the variations of the lattice displacement fields such as stacking faults and dislocations, which are localized only in the vicinity of lattice defects. Conventionally, the phase retrieval using diffraction intensity has been limited to thin specimens, in which the diffraction intensities are approximated by the absolute squares of the Fourier transform of the structure of the specimen. The TV and TSV regularizations are also effective to suppress overfitting to dynamical diffraction intensities which are observed in CBED patterns taken from thick specimens.
    The phase retrieval by the present method is demonstrated by using kinematical and dynamical simulated CBED patterns with artificial noise and background. The phase retrieval of the experimental rocking curves taken from a stacking fault in a stainless steel is also demonstrated. The accuracy of the phase reconstruction by the present method is discussed.

    In the present study, we propose a simple method to determine the bending strain of a lattice together with lattice constants on the basis of the kinematical diffraction theory and the Hough transform technique.     本研究では、空間中を伝播する電子の波動関数を自在に操る技術の構築を目指し、光から電子への状態転写を利用したまったく新しい電子波の波動関数制御の可能性を実験的に検証する。応募者のグループがこれまで開発してきたスピン偏極パルス透過電子顕微鏡は、電子源として負の電気親和性をもつ半導体フォトカソード型電子銃を搭載している。このフォトカソードに振幅および位相に構造をもつレーザー光を入射し、光から電子への状態転写を利用して振幅および位相に構造をもつ電子線を生成する。この技術を利用した「ZコントラストTEM法」、 「電子らせん波の生成」および「構造化照明電子顕微鏡法」などの新しい電子顕微鏡法の開発を目指す。

    本研究では、原子分解能での走査電子顕微鏡(SEM)法をハイパーマテリアルに適用し、その表面構造の原子レベルでの解析を行う。まず、単原子および2次元原子層物質をもちいた系統的かつ定量的な解析をSEM像の解析を行い、原子分解能SEMの空間分解能およびコントラストの成因を明らかにする。それらの結果を踏まえ、世界で初めてBa-Ti-O系準周期単層膜の構造を原子レベルで明らかにする。また本研究を通じてSEMを原子分解能で表面構造解析ができる手法に進化させ、今後の表面科学研究のブレークスルーを図る。

    本課題では申請者が二次元三角格子系LiVS2で最近見出した、柔粘性結晶相発現の背景物理の解明と、同様の性質を示す新たな物質系の開発を目指す。LiVS2は314 K以下でバナジウム三量体化を伴う金属-非磁性絶縁体転移を示す。高温常磁性相では、バナジウムがジグザグ状の短距離秩序を形成しており、このジグザグ鎖の形成パターンが時間・空間的にゆっくりと変動する。ジグザグ鎖のパターンは3種類存在し、これらの配向はすべて異なることから、この格子ダイナミクスは無機化合物で実現した柔粘性結晶状態と定義される。同様の『無機柔粘性結晶』の新たな候補物質の開発を通じて、その発現メカニズムを明らかにすることを目指す。
    低温で量体化転移を示す周辺物質の探索として、スピネル格子系LiRh2O4, βパイロクロア型CsW2O6という二物質に対する平均構造/局所構造解析を行った。前者においては、電荷秩序と二量体化が現れる低温相の結晶構造を明らかにし、この電荷秩序パターンが1950年代に理論提案されながらこれまでに実現例のなかった『アンダーソン条件』を満たす初めてのスピネル化合物であることを突き止めた。後者については、『3中心2電子結合』で形成された三角系型の三量体を持つ物質として知られているが、局所的にみると三量体が実現していないように見えることを明らかにした。おそらくは、三量体と思われたものが3通りの従来型二量体がガラス(液体)的に現れており、平均構造として電子不足型の三量体として捉えられたものと考えている。面白いことに、LiRh2O4, CsW2O6の両方に共通して、高温の常磁性相においては短距離秩序が発達していることを示唆する結果を得た。本研究のターゲットである量体化系で現れる無秩序分子が様々な物質系で普遍的に現れていることを示していると考えられる。
    また、本研究課題では、高温でジグザグ鎖のダイナミクスが現れるLiVS2に対する交流抵抗の周波数依存性からダイナミクスの定量測定を行うことを目指している。この実験には大型単結晶が必要となり、申請時には数年を要するものと見込んでいたが、初年度の研究で早くも達成することができた。合成は放射光を用いた単結晶XRD測定により確認している。これにより、得られた大型単結晶を用いて2021年度にダイナミクスの定量測定を行う予定である。
    本研究の課題である柔粘性結晶候補物質を複数見出すことに成功し、数年を要すると考えていたLiVS2大型単結晶の育成に一年で成功した。これにより、令和4年度に予定していた交流抵抗の周波数依存性実験を令和3年度に前倒しすることが可能となる。また、[研究実績の概要]には含めていないが、令和3年度に予定している幾つかの物質系の放射光回折実験を予備的におこなうことができた。これにより、令和3年度予定の実験の成功に向けた道筋が見えており、十分な下準備を始めることが出来ている。以上のような理由から、本研究課題は当初の計画以上に進展していると判断する。
    申請時の予定どおり、複数の三角格子系の化合物を対象として放射光を利用した回折実験やSTEM測定を行い、柔粘性結晶実現の可能性を探る。当初の予定にはなかった複数の物質系が候補として加わり始めており、次年度も当初の計画以上の進展が見込める点を強調したい。加えて、令和4年度に予定していた交流抵抗の周波数依存性実験を令和3年度に前倒しで進める予定である。

    本研究では、電子ビームの軌道角運動量測定法を開発し、その応用研究を行うことを目的に研究を遂行している。令和3年度の主な成果は、以下の通りである。

    昨年度に引き続き、新型コロナ流行による影響を大きく受け、研究の中断変更を余儀なくされた。非弾性散乱電子の軌道角運動量を検出するためには、これまでに作製し研究に利用してきた数ミクロンメートル大の「回折格子」よりもさらに小さい回折格子が必要であることが分かった。その加工には本学等が所有の液体ガリウム金属イオン源集束イオンビーム(FIB)では難しく、より微細な加工ができるヘリウムイオン顕微鏡装置が必要であった。当時、国内で稼働し利用できるヘリウムイオン顕微鏡装置は産業技術総合研究所(つくば市)所有の装置のみであった。産業技術総合研究所所有のヘリウムイオン顕微鏡の外部利用が可能となった年度後半時に、微細加工を行った。作製した回折格子を本学および名古屋大学の電子顕微鏡をもちいて評価を行った。軌道角運動量をもつ電子を生成する「フォーク型回折格子」として、われわれの知る限り、世界最小のもの(回折格子間隔約10nm)を作製することができた。しかしながら、非弾性散乱電子の検出には至っていない。回折パターン等を変え改良した「フォーク型回折格子」を新たに設計し、ヘリウムイオン顕微鏡による再加工をする予定である。また、昨年度に発案した電場型レンズ、位相板の設計を進め、試作をマイクロドリルをもちいた機械加工及びFIBにより行った。

    We have developed an electron gun that generates structured electron beams having a specific amplitude and phase distribution by illuminating a semiconductor photocathode with structured light. An optical system that generates structured light with a specific intensity distribution was constructed using a spatial phase modulator and mounted on an electron microscope. It was confirmed that electron beams are generated by the structured light generated by the present optical system. We also conducted an intensity interference experiment using spin-polarized electrons, and found that electron beams with spin polarizations of ± 80% show anti-bunching phenomena which is not observed by electron beams with a spin polarization of 0%. In addition, we constructed a theory that describes the quantum interference effect and the breaking of Bell's inequality, and elucidated the mechanism by which weak values occur.

    One of the imaging features in aberration-corrected transmission electron microscopy (AC-TEM) is that lattice fringe contrast is minimized at the in-focus condition. By utilizing the feature, we developed a new method to observe three-dimensional dispersion of metallic nano particles from a focal series of AC-TEM images. In the process, we developed a filtering procedure to display magnitude of lattice fringe contrast quantitatively. By using the filtering procedure, we also succeeded in developing a method to measure roughness at mismatch epitaxial interfaces between semiconducting materials.

    The final target of this study was the creation of a new type of electron beams and an innovative beam control technology by operating the phase of electron beam wavefunctions. In this study we generated an electron Bessel beam using a nanofabricated annular slit for the first time. We experimentally revealed the nonspreading and self-healing properties of the electron Bessel beam, which can be used for a new electron microscopy and an atomic manipulation technique. Our presented technique can be also used to generate a new type of electron beams.
